Childhood and Career
Gorge Westinghouse was born on October 6, 1841, he was born at central bridge ,NY and went to Union collage . He was famous for the rail road break system using compressed air . And a family tradition of farming, he was an engineer. Gorge Westinghouse, Jr was an American entrepreneur and engineer who invented the railway air brake and was a pioneer of the electrical industry, gaining his first patent at the age of 22.
Away from home and major events
He served in the navy and union army. when he was 15 the civil war broke out and enlisted in the NY National Guard and served till his parents came home. December 1864 he resign from the army to join the navy serving as acting third assistance and returned in August 1865.
Awards and life
his awards are, john fritz medal and aide edition medal, his invention didn't work at first. he lived in schoharie,NY ,and was married. his famous quotes is " if someday they say of me that in my work I have contributed something to welfare and happiness..." he died on march 12,1941, NY city, died because of heart falier.
