Message from the Principal
Parents,
Our school is a Title 1 Targeted Assistance school. Title 1 Targeted Assistance federal funds provide extra academic support to students struggling in reading and math in grades K-2. You can learn more about Title 1 programming by clicking on the link below:
https://www.sowashco.org/departments/teaching_and_learning/title_1
Our teachers are prepared to give your child a high-quality education. As a Title I school, we must meet federal rules related to teacher qualifications as defined in Elementary Secondary Education Act. These rules allow you to learn more about your child’s teachers’ training and credentials. We are happy to provide this information to you. At any time, you may ask:
*Whether the teacher met state qualifications and certification requirements for the grade level and subject he/she is teaching.
*Whether the teacher received an emergency or conditional certificate through which state qualifications were waived.
*What undergraduate or graduate degrees the teacher holds, including graduate certificates and additional degrees, and major(s) or area(s) of concentration.
*You may also ask whether your child receives help from a paraprofessional. If your child receives this assistance, we can provide you with information about the paraprofessional’s qualifications.
Our staff is committed to helping your child develop the academic knowledge and critical thinking he/she needs to succeed in school and beyond. That commitment includes making sure that all of our teachers and paraprofessionals are highly skilled. If you have any questions about your child’s educational needs, please contact me at 651-425-3601.
Thanks!
Ed Ross/Principal

We are still looking for someone to serve in our PTA secretary position. If you have any interest, please reach out to one of our board members!
During our first meeting, our discussions focused on the current budget, upcoming Culvers nights(TBA) and our school carnival.
Our school carnival discussion focused on the need to have many volunteers in order to pull off such a large event. Before COVID, our volunteer pool had been shrinking and the ability to plan such a large event fell upon the same small group of volunteers. Because of the timing of the event in the fall, it was decided that we would look at planning a spring carnival that could be tied into our Global Arts Festival that runs in May. The PTA will be looking for volunteers who could help plan that event. Feel free to reach out to one of our board members or attend our next meeting on October 3rd at 5:30 in our media center!
