eBooks are Here!

We now have eBooks available in our library! I had a training day with all of the regular education reading classes in the computer lab last week. Special education students will receive the training next week. Students should know how to access the eBooks on the computer and through their devices. Right now, the app is not available on Kindle.

Some of the less popular eBooks are available with unlimited copies (any number of students may check them out at one time) and other eBooks are single checkout just as in a physical book. eBooks are available for two weeks at a time and disappear from a student's account at the end of the two weeks.

Available eBooks:

Prisoner B-3087 (single checkout)

Rise of the Zombie Scarecrows (unlimited copies)

Vanish (unlimited copies)

Places of the World: Did You Know?

These shoes may look picturesque or even beautiful along the Danube River in Budapest, Hungary, but the real story behind the shoes is anything but beautiful. These 60 pairs of 1940's period shoes made of iron memorialize the 600,00 Hungarians, including at least 450,00 Jews, killed during World War II.

During the German occupation of 1944-1945, it was common for Jews to be lined up and shot into the Danube River. Victims had to take off their shoes because they were too valuable to be lost. It is estimated that 75-80% of the Jewish population was killed.
