Video Tutorial - How to Sign Up for Exams (real site goes live on 12/15)
Day #1: Tuesday December 20th
Day #2: Wednesday December 21st
We will be sharing the LIVE SIGN UP LINK out to have students sign up to take exams on Wednesday December 14th for Juniors and Seniors and then on Thursday December 15th for Sophomores and Freshmen. We will be meeting with the classes to go over all of this and make things as clear to them as possible.
One important thing for ALL PARENTS and STUDENTS to know is that we are only doing exams over two days this year instead of three and both days are full days. THERE WILL BE NO EARLY DISMISSALS. Students may come to school late if they have later exam slots but once they are here they must stay until the end of the day. There will be no signing students out early unless for an excused reason.
***If a student has no exams on any of the days they will need to sign up for that in Sign up genius. There is a tab in the sign up that ways No exams. They will go to that tab and select the days they will be missing due to no exams.
Exam Exemptions
* These exemptions can be used together to skip multiple exams
- Attendance Exemption (requires a form) Students missing no more than 1.5 days or 3 half days in a semester are eligible for this exemption. If you have been suspended from school for any reason you are NOT eligible to use this exemption.
- 95% Grade Exemption (requires a form) - Students who maintain an exemplary grade for a SEMESTER may elect to miss that course’s semester examination with no penalty to his/her grade. Exemplary grade is defined as a ninety-five (95) percent or higher. (One time use only per semester)
- AR Points - Students who accumulate the necessary AR Points and or pass the required number of AR tests will be granted the ability to exempt from an exam of their choice.
- State Testing Exemption - Students that scored a "3" or higher on their state end of course exam may skip the exam of the subject they scored that on. Furthermore, if a student passed all their tests with a "3" or higher they may also choose one elective exam to exempt. (Students were given scores and teachers were notified as well)
***Exemptions that require forms need to be turned in NO LATER THAN Friday December 16th at 3:00pm. No forms will be accepted after this strict deadline. Click the link below to access the forms or go to our website. Hard copies are also available in the HS office.

SCHOOL SAFETY Adopt A Door
The safety and welfare of our students and staff is one of our highest priorities at Otsego Local Schools. As we always do, we will take time during our professional development days to talk about our enhanced lockdown procedures. Teachers, building staff, and students know their options to evacuate, barricade, or use evasive distractions to get away from an armed intruder (Run-Hide-Fight).
As an added measure, we are excited to announce the installment of The Boot™ Security System on 170 doors throughout our school buildings. The Boot™ will enhance our lockdown procedures.
The Otsego Endowment Foundation (OEF) is sponsoring an Adopt-A-Door Program to fund this important initiative. The OEF has given over $200,000 to the Otsego Local School District since its inception in 1988, and is excited to endorse this initiative. Adopt-A-Door is a great way for parents, family members, community leaders, businesses and civic groups to sponsor The Boot™ on one or more doors in our school buildings (see attached form). Please help us to get 170 sponsors by the end of the year. Consider donating, share the information with your employer, family and groups you are associated with.
We will be sending a letter home with your children next week.

Please mail or deliver completed Adopt-A-Door forms to Lisa Austin, 185050 Tontogany Creek Rd. Bowling Green, OH 43402. Make checks payable to the Otsego Endowment Foundation. Thank you very much for your continued support of our students and staff.

Employment/Volunteer Opportunities
C.Y.C.L.E. is an acronym that stands for Cooperating with Youth, Community and Law Enforcement.
Our Teen Court program is twofold in that we work with teen offenders as well as teens that serve as the Wood County Teen Court. Teen Court is a diversion program that uses positive peer influence to give first time teenage offenders a second chance rather than face a more criminal and adult disposition. Our vision is that Wood County teens will be law-abiding leaders who give back to their community. Our Mission is to respond to needs and concerns of individuals impacted by crime, instill leadership qualities in members, as well as inspire offenders to restore justice.
This Teen Court term begins with training in January and the session begins shortly after training. Aside from training there is a requirement of two Wednesdays a month and their session will end in June.
Applications are due December 9th! Two weeks from Friday! I have attached an application if you know of any students that might be interested!
This is an awesome opportunity and I want to be sure to give every student equal opportunity to take part in our Teen Court program. Thank you for your time and if you have any more questions for me please feel free to call me or email me!
