Hyperbole
An example of a hyperbole from 101 Dalmatians is " I'm so hungry I could eat a whole elephant. " The Dalmatian meant that he was really hungry. Another example of a hyperbole from Despicable Me is " Its so fluffy! I'm going to die!" Agnes loved the fluffy unicorn and thought it was extremely fluffy. A hyperbole is a deliberate, extravagant and often outrageous exaggeration.
Simile
A good example of a simile would be these lyrics in Mulan " You must be swift as the coursing rain, with all the force of a great typhoon, with all the strength of a raging fire, mysterious as the dark side of the moon ". These lyrics describe the attributes of soldiers during the war. An example from Winnie the Pooh states " I shall fly like a bee." Winnie was floating on a balloon and he wanted to fly up to t sky. A simile is a comparison of two different things or ideas using the words "like" or "as''.
Narration
In the movie Wreck-It Ralph the narration is " My name is Ralph and I'm a bad guy." Ralph is introducing his character in the movie who wrecks houses in a video game. Also in the movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs he starts the movie by saying "Have you ever felt that you were a little bit different? Then you know exactly how it felt to be me." The narrator is telling us how he felt so we can understand the story from his point of view.Narration is the telling of a story in writing or speaking.
Alliteration
A model of an alliteration is modeled in Aladdin that states " Shining, shimmering, splendid ". Aladdin is using consonant s sound repeatitively to describe the city. In addition, Beauty and the Beast used an alliteration that declares "Looking so down in the dumps ". The servant was trying to cheer Gaston up. The servant uses the d consonant sound twice. Alliteration is the practice of beginning several consecutive or neighboring words with the same sound.
Foreshadowing
According to the movie Cinderella when the stepmother angrily glares at Cinderella it shows that she is going to do something very bad to her. The stepmother locked Cinderella in her room. Foreshadowing is the use of hints or clues in a narrative to suggest future action.
Metaphor
In the movie Aladdin, the genie sings to Aladdin "Life is your restaurant and I'm your maitre'd.".The genie is referring to how he serves Aladdin. A metaphor is the comparison of two unlike things.
Theme
In the Disney movie The Beauty and the Beast the theme is beauty is not the outside of a person, but its whats inside of him. The Beast has a big heart, but he looks scary on the outside. Beauty loves him because of what's in his heart and not what he looks like. Theme is the central message of a literary work.
Synecdoche
A synecdoche is a form of metaphor. An example of a synecdoche from The Little Rascals is" You know just what to say to take a girl's breath away." Alfafalfa's girlfriend is saying that he always knows what to say to make a girl happy.
Sound Devices
Sound devices are stylistic techniquesthat convey meaning through sound. In the song" Let It Go" from Frozen Idina Menzel uses rhyming words in the lyrics. "The snow glows white on the mountain tonight

Flashback
A flashback is a scene that interrupts the action of a work to show a previous event. In the movie Toy Story 2, Jessie has a flashback of when she was stuck in a box. She sings a song about the experience to Woody.
