Texas Oil Project

Overview
The Texas oil boom, started by oil found under Spindletop, was a period of dramatic and economic change in the US state of Texas. It all began in the early 20th century because of the discovery of a large Petroleum reserve. When this was discovered Texas quickly became one of the leading oil producing states in the U.S. Not too long after that, the nation over took the Russian empire as the top producer of petroleum. The major petroleum strikes that rapidly began the growth in petroleum exploration all happen in Southeast Texas, but soon reserves were found all across Texas. Who knew that this would have such a big effect on the history of Texas? It had one of the biggest effects in Beaumont, Texas because that is where it was discovered first. It grew and had a huge effect and led to growth and industrialization. By 1985, 153,000,000 barrels of oil had been produced. Many things we use in our daily lives are used from petroleum. Things such as: Ping pong paddles, aspirin, volleyballs, basketballs, lipstick, fertilizers, ball point pens , calculators, binders, erasers, name tags, ear plugs, knitting needles, water proof clothing, model cars, plastic water guns, earphones, photographs, goggles, whistles, tents, ice chests, sleeping bags, snorkels, wet suits, photo albums, flippers, etc. Ever since the big oil boom, we have relied on oil and it has made an everlasting impact on Texas and its history. We may already have tons of history behind oil, but we are making it today.
