LRMS: Week at a Glance
August 31 - September 4, 2015
Sayings from Skinner
Greetings Awesome Radloff Raiders -- I hope you are each READY for a great Week 4! Can you believe that we will have completed a full month of school by the end of this week! The time is truly flying! Again, I want to express my appreciation for the fantastic Curriculum Night this past week. Your attention during Staff Development on Friday was awesome, and you all have been amazing in working through the pre-tests for our District Assessments and our SPGs. I am also so grateful for how many of you have stepped up (and/or continued) with volunteering to support our students in myriad ways beyond the classroom: clubs, activities, tutoring, etc. It is evident that you are "in it to win it" and totally READY to make Radloff the place it was meant to be!!!!! I know we will have an amazing week as we move toward our exciting "College Football Kick-off Celebration!" on Friday, September 4. This is intended to be a FUN day to help our kids get excited about college and the readiness for it --- so pull out your spirit wear and encourage the kids to do so as well!! (Might be a good reason to hand out some more Raider Bucks!) If you see some kids are beginning to "dip" in grades or behavior, now is the time to intervene -- make parent contacts -- have individual conferences with students -- refer these to the counselor -- and it may be time to start opening Academic Contracts. I want everyone to have a fabulous finish to August and a strong start into September!!!!! Have a fantastic week, Raiders!!! Y'all are awesome!!!
News You Can Use
(Be IN the Loop and Know the Radloff Way!)
1) Kudos, Congratulations, and Other Matters of Good News:
Please let me know all that's going on --- anyone have KUDOS or congratulations to share????
Just email them to Sarah
2) eClass Excitement!
THANKS to all for your great participation and sharing in Friday's Staff Development -- Keep sharing great ideas and implementing technology to make instruction engaging and learning lasting.
Please don't forget the Y'ALL COME set for Wednesday, September 2 -- if the C&I pages are still a quandary for you AND/OR you want to learn new tips and tricks, then, this is the learning for you!!!
3) Visitors/Parents Coming to See You? Meetings Being Held with Outsiders?
Please let Miriam Johnson (at our front desk) know. She can help direct parents and guests to you -- but only if she's aware of what's going on and where it is occurring!! Many times our guests arrive and they don't know where a meeting is --- please help Miriam help all of us!
4) Radloff Reads -- Summer Reading -- Finishing It Up!
Please make sure you submit your students' grades (from your Radloff Reads reading groups) to the LA teachers no later than Friday, September 4 -- so these can be included in the 4 1/2 - week progress reports.
If you have feedback/suggestions for summer reading for next year, please forward to Maya Kirk or Marcia Ellington-Lopez, so that the Literacy Consortia can visit the program and continue to grow it!!!! (THANKS for the many of you who made the most of the experience -- the kids' projects were simply AWESOME!)
5) 9:30 - 10:00 -- This Week and Beyond
A) ELT (M, T, TH, F --- except for the day that each Grade Level has Raider Round-up!)
These begin Monday. If you did not get your lists to Mary Ann by the deadline (this past Wednesday), it may take a couple more days to have everything accurate in SASI. Remember that schedule changes take a day or so to roll to your grade books -- and those that submitted them on Friday may not see their accurate rolls until later in this week!
Thanks to the ELT-Leadership Team for making all of the lessons and resources so available. If you have questions and/or needs, please direct these to the ELT Leaders.
B) Advisement (W):
We will officially begin our Wednesday Raider Pride/Advisement lessons this week -- thanks to the Advisement Team for your great work in getting everything pulled together and ready to go!!
C) Study Skills (for special ed. students):
Students who have Study Skills on their IEPs will meet for that 5 days a week with their Study Skills teachers/Case Managers -- this will be during the ELT/Advisement Time.
D) Raider Roundups:
6th grade is Tuesday, Sept. 1; 7th grade is Thursday, Sept. 3; 8th grade is Friday, Sept. 4. See the email from Brigette Brown and the PBIS team for all the details of how Roundups work! We only have about 14 students across the ENTIRE school who are not eligible to attend -- that is AWESOME!! Let's keep celebrating and promoting the 3 Rs -- and our kids who make great choices!!!
6) Need to Have an Announcement Made or Make Sure Everyone Knows?
A) Send any announcements via email to "637 Announcements" and Sarah Craig will make sure it's on the news. Write the announcement EXACTLY as you want it read! And shorter is often better!!
B) Email the information to Sarah Skinner to include in the "Week at a Glance"
C) Send the information to Amanda Sparks to include in the School-wide Calendar
