A Message from the Principal
Team Trafalgar,
We’ve had a very successful first quarter! Continue to focus on our 4 Expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, and Be a Learner. The best way to support a child’s education is to be at school on time every day! We appreciate all you do to encourage and support your child’s education. Smile and Be Kind

Thank You for your Support
We also want to thank each and every family who participated in the Otis Spunkmeyer fundraiser. We earned nearly $15,000.00 toward our playground! Your support is greatly appreciated. Cookie dough and other orders should be at the school in the next couple weeks. We will send notification of the pick up time. All orders must be picked up by a parent.
We are so proud of our students and staff in their involvement in supporting childhood cancer. On Friday, September 21st, Trafalgar Elementary spent the day in their jammies to show support for the thousands of children who are stuck in their PJ’s battling cancer. During our Pjammin' with Kids event, we raised $1,822.52. This money was sent to The American Childhood Cancer Organization.

Safety First
- Please remember that the safest way for your child to go home is by riding the bus or being picked up in the car line. Do not park on private property or on the roadway to pick up or drop off children.
- In times of severe weather, dismissal may be delayed. Walkers and bike riders will not be allowed to leave the building until we receive an "all clear" for lightning.
- We do not take transportation changes over the phone. If you need to change the way your child goes home, you must submit it in writing or in person to the office.
- Remember that when you are leaving our driveway, pedestrians have the right of way. Please be cautious when approaching the end of our driveway as students from our school and the middle school cross there.

Please be sure to include your child's name and teacher's name on the collection sheet. Each one earns 10 cents toward our school. Simply clip the Box Top from participating products and send them in to school. You may send them in a baggie or attach them to a box top collection sheet.

A Note from the School Nurse
Teach children clean habits to stay healthy! Clean habits are the best defense against germs that cause colds and flu. Many other illnesses can pass easily from person to person by being near someone who is sick, coughing and sneezing or then touching something a sick person has touched. Take care of yourself.
Important reminders:
- Wash hands often
- Try not to touch eyes, mouth or nose
- Cover a sneeze or cough, and wash hands afterward
- Stay away from those who are sick
- Stay home if sick
Remind others to do the same too—it’s the best defense!
Just another reminder that children who have reached the age of ten (10) are eligible to receive the Tdap immunization (*this shot will be required for your child to enter the 7th grade
Why wait? You can get a jump start and get the shot when your child turns 10 or 11. The Lee County Health Department offers immunizations free of charge to children under the age of 18 or you can make an appointment with your child’s pediatrician. Then please bring that documentation/record of that Tdap to your school nurse. Call 332-9601 for more information.
For children who have started the HPV/Guardisil vaccine series, continue with completion of that series of 3 shots.
Packets arrive the Week of: 10/30/2018
Did you know the arts are the foundational building blocks for all the other educational disciplines? That’s why we have partnered with Trafalgar to create a unique opportunity to celebrate their artistic accomplishments while raising funds for the arts.
Coming home soon will be your child’s custom catalog featuring their artwork. Won’t you help make your child feel like an accomplished artist by purchasing keepsakes for the whole family containing their masterpiece? The school earns profit from every order. And as a thank you for participating, we provide each child with a sheet of stickers imprinted with their artwork - absolutely FREE!
Watch for more details about the campaign and order deadlines. All online and paper order forms must be turned in by the due date on your child’s custom catalog.
Together, we can help build your child’s self-esteem, and create lasting keepsakes from your child’s artistic achievements.
