6 Real World Problems

Mental illnesses is a widly used term that can used to diaignose specific disaeases of the brain. What causes a disorder is a traumatic event such as being a victim of a crime, neglection by parents, a car accident, or even genetics. "A person's thinking, feeling or mood may affect and disrupt his ability to relate to others and function in daily life." This quote could be used to describe the mother of The Glass Castle. She throws a tantrum every week and refuses to go to work which disrupts her ability to function and hlp her family.
Research has proven that alcoholism can be a genetic disease/disorder. "Risk for alcoholism in humans reflects the mix and magnitude of these and other phenotypes, shaped by underlying genes, in interaction with an environment in which alcohol is available." This quote could accurately describe the father who is addicted to alcohol. His father and mother were both alcohol addicts. He tried to give it up for Jeanette's tenth birthday but gave back in to old habits after moving to Welch.
The parents in the glass castle are not the best. The father has an alcohol addiction and abandons his childen for days on end. These actions could terminate his paternity rights as a father. "Failure to support or maintain contact with the child, long-term alcohol or drug-induced incapacity of the parent(s)." These are two examples of parental violations of Rex and Rose Mar. I fell like they should lost their parental rights a long time ago.
The Hearth Act would've helped Jeanette's family greatly. This act would have served homeless families and unaccompanied children. Jeanette and her siblings would have been teaken away most likely by the welfare man but for their own good.
Education neglect is a parent or guardian's failure to ensure the child attends school as required by law. Jeanette's family has moved a lot druing her life, sometimes very quickly. This means that Rose Mary failed to get the papers needed to transfer schools. Earlier in her life, Jeanette did not attend school often either. This also means that it was her parents fault that she did not attend school. Rose Mary and Rex could have been put in jail for this as well.
"Civil disobedience is a public, non-violent and conscientious breach of law undertaken with the aim of bringing about a change in laws or government policies." Jeanette took a nonviolent approach to her mother when she told Rose mary to stop acting like a child.
