Fourth Grade News
For the week of December 12, 2016
This Week's Focus:
Writing - Our unit on Informational Writing takes an interactive twist this week! Each student will be responsible for becoming an "expert" on one particular topic, which they will research and complete an essay on prior to our winter break. This week, we will discuss "reliable sources" as we research the different topics of our choice. We will also practice our note-taking strategies as we read through the resources that we find. The children will have opportunities to visit our library and computer lab to locate 2 sources that they will utilize as they take notes on their topic. All of the writing for this project will be completed in school, but each student will also be required to create a visual for their topic at home. The visuals will be due on December 22nd so that they can be displayed for our Open House on Dec. 23rd.
Math - Students will continue to solve multi-step word problems, as well as practice long division.
Social Studies - We will research and discuss natural resources of the Southeast Region.
Science - Students will continue to work on their Natural Disaster slide shows and models. They will also begin presenting them toward the end of the week.
*Important Dates:
