Gingerbread Week!

The week of December 14th, we will be decorating gingerbread men and gingerbread houses! It will be lots of fun! Please look for a note in your child’s blue take home folder tomorrow about supplies that will be needed.

Bronco Press

Bronco Press is a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their writing talents by publishing a book. Bronco Press is open to all students in kindergarten through 5th grade. The Bronco Press template and step by step instructions can be found on the PTA website Follow the link, Award Winning PTA, Bronco Press. Students should turn in their typed and illustrated work to their teacher by Wednesday, April 13th. PTA will then bind the books. All student authors will be presented with their bound books at a special author’s reception. What a wonderful treasure and keepsake! The Bronco Press is a part of the principal’s triathlon recognition program.

Outdoor Recess- Please Remember!

As the weather begins to get cooler, please make sure that your child brings appropriate clothing for outdoor recess. Please remember to label all jackets, coats, hats, and gloves with your child’s name.

What We're Learning

Language Arts & Social Studies

In language arts, we have been working on spelling words with long a. Students have also been identifying verbs. In writer's workshop, we have been taking a story narrative through the writing process.

In social studies, we've been talking about diversity and how we are similiar and different from our classmates and those around us.

Next week, students will be spelling words with long i. They will be identifying present tense verbs and writing an expository paragraph. In social studies, they will be doing holiday research.

We have begun our unit on geometry. This week students have been identifying and describing plane, two dimensional, shapes.

Next week we will be focusing on solid, three dimensional shapes. We will begin talking about equal parts.

Over the next few weeks, students will be working to answer the question: What does it mean to be healthy?

Throughout this unit, students will show their learning by:

  • communicating information about personal health habits and safety rules

  • setting personal health goals
