Tchaikovsky's Life
Tchaikovsky was born on May 7, 1840 in Votkinsk, Russia. At age 10 Tchaikovsky was sent to the school of Jurisprudence in St. Petersburg. He finished his entrance exams in 1852. But in 1854 Tchaikovsky's mother whom he adored, died from cholera. In December of 1876 Madame Nadezhda von Meck came into Tchaikovsky's life. The two were very good friends, who never met in person more than 5 or 6 times. But the friendly relationship came to an abrupt end in 1890. When Madame Nadezhda von Meck lied to Tchaikovsky about financial issues. Tchaikovsky died on November 6th in 1893.

Tchaikovsky was born in Votkinsk, Germany. He spent most of his life either going to school or composing music in Germany. When Tchaikovsky died he was buried in Saint Petersburg, Germany. Only a couple of blocks from the school he used to attend, the School of Jurisprudence.

Piano Concerto No.1
Tchaikovsky wrote this concerto with the advice of Nikolay Rubinstein, a Russian pianist, composer, and conductor. After the concerto was completed Nikolay thought it was to hard to play and uneven. Because of Nikolay's rude remark Tchaikovsky decided to dedicate the concerto to Hans van Bulow, the first person to perform the concerto in 1875.
