A Word from the Administrators
Good Afternoon Families,
As we move into the final 6 weeks of the school year I want to put out some reminders.
Dismissal- please do not pull into the front parking lot to pick up your child if you are not a bus/daycare/or approved because of a special situation. Buses are being blocked by cars and we have had two different collisions with bus vs. car in the last few weeks. If you need to pick up your child early please do so prior to 2:45 pm. It is very challenging to try to retrieve your child(ren) from dismissal areas after 2:45pm.
Please be mindful of how fast you pull into the parking lot on both sides. We have staff monitoring the entrances to insure that we can be safe and effective and we have had some near misses with cars speeding through the entrance past staff members.
Lunches - We are unable to accommodate 'door dash' or any other food delivery group. Please do not send any food delivery group to bring food for your child for lunch. PLEASE.
During STAAR testing (see calendar above) the campus is closed to visitors as schedules will be adjusted and we are maintaining district guidelines for testing requirements.
Be on the look-out for information from your child's teacher regarding end of the year family picnics and EOY conferences. We will also be posted information regarding your child next grade level on the website so be on the look-out!

Please try to avoid picking your child up early on days they are scheduled to test. We will provide one snack and one water to each student. If you would like to send an additional snack, you are welcome to do so. Please try to send something healthy that can be eaten easily without a mess (ex. berries, grapes, cubed cheese, pretzels, beef jerky, etc.).No Takis or Cheetos etc. or liquid snacks such as fruit cups or pudding since it can compromise the technology used for testing. If you would like tips for helping prepare your student ahead of the test, check out How to Help My Child Prepare a couple of weeks in advance.

There is a busy week ahead with testing and ending with a fun Super Kids Day! I have full confidence that our Pandas are going to Rock the STAAR test and then celebrate with all kinds of games and fun on Friday. To get our students successfully through the STAAR test there are some test taking strategies you can implement at home.
1. A good, full night of sleep prior to the test. Eating a well balanced dinner followed by a full night of sleep gets the body and brain rested and ready to tackle the test.
2. Turning off the devices before bed. Reduce stimulation and the urge to stay up late on phones and tablets by turning them in to parents and powering them off.
3. Prep everything the night before. Locate all clothing and supplies and lay them out the night before. This can help reduce stress and save time in the morning.
4. Get to school a few minutes earlier than usual. This provides plenty of time for the restroom and to get settled and focused on test taking.
5. Parents/Families this one is for you! PUMP UP YOUR STUDENT! Providing your student with encouraging words and confidence will help to motivate them to truly do their best!

Super Kids Day FRIDAY, APRIL 21
Please join your child for Super Kids Day this Friday,April 21st. Head straight to the pavilion area unless you are a prek/kinder/1st volunteer. Volunteers who returned forms to their childās teacher can check in at the front office and go to the classroom to assist the teacher. Due to ongoing construction, our space is limited so we will only have one grade level outside at a time. Each grade level will have 50 minutes outside during their time and then we be allowed to visit the concession stand. If you bring younger siblings please note that they will not be allowed to play. Super Kids Day is for our current WPE students. Only children in the grade level assigned to be outside can play the games.
The concession stand funds the inflatables and most things are $1 with a couple of items $2.
You will be allowed to check your child out after their session if you choose. Please see your childās teacher to do this and avoid the chaos of the office.
