Keep Lago Vista Beautiful (KVLB) Art Contest
At the October 3 Lago Vista City Council Meeting, Mayor Tidwell presented 7-year old Ryder Gruell with a certificate of recognition for initiating the “Lago Litter Challenge” litter reduction program. Ryder recently moved here with his family from Ventura, California, and now attends 2nd grade at the Lago Vista Elementary School. An active participant in beach cleanups in his home town, Ryder noticed the amount of litter on our roadsides, and decided to do something about it! Ryder’s mom Holly says “…we as a family began thinking we could do something about the litter in Lago Vista. We would take a HEB bag on our daily walk, to the parks, everywhere, and fill it. After being contacted by KLVB, we agreed to kick-off the Lago Litter Challenge to all youth and their families in Lago Vista… to inspire others to do the same.” LAGO VISTA YOUTH AND FAMILIES – ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE! GRAB A BAG, GET OUTDOORS, AND PICK UP LITTER! Then post a selfie with your bag full of litter on KLVB’S Facebook at #lagolitterchallenge. The parks, byways, streets, and citizens of Lago Vista will thank you! Ryder’s Lago Litter Challenge is a part of KLVB’s Adopt-a-Street Program. Those who volunteer for this program monitor a block, street or other public area for litter accumulation and pick up litter as often as they deem necessary. We currently have 145 individuals and groups monitoring 121 areas. In the near future we will have a link on the FB page that will allow you to sign up. In the meantime, contact KLVB’s Frank Coletta at coletta_j@msn.com for more information or to sign up for your street. Together we can keep Lago Vista Beautiful!

Counselor's Corner
Hello LVES Families!
During the month of October, students are learning about the character trait of Respect. In our guidance class lessons, students are understanding that respect can mean being polite and using manners, as well as respecting other people’s differences. Students will also learn about respecting themselves, as we promote Red Ribbon Week and staying drug-free.
Our Red Ribbon Week Theme Days will be October 28-November 1!
Mon. “We’re REaDy to Be Drug Free!”- Wear red for the Red Ribbon Pledge Signing!
Tues. “Stomp Out Drugs!” - Wear your Western clothes and boots!
Wed. “Too Smart for Drugs!” - Wear your college shirt!
Thur. “We are Too Bright to do Drugs!”- Wear bright or neon colors!
Fri. “Team Up Against Drugs!”- Wear your blue & gold Viking spirit wear!
Let’s show our community how the Lago Vista Elementary School Vikings know how to respect themselves and others by pledging to be drug-free!
