Notes from the Principal
To The Fabulous Boone Community –
What a year this has been. As you are reading these words, we are just hours from the end of the school year. Together we have persevered through one of the toughest school years that has ever been. From one survivor to another, WE MADE IT!!! Thank you for all you have done to make this a successful year.
Several parents have asked me what they can do to over the summer to help get their children ready for next year. My advice is simple: Get them outside!! Let them be kids!! Play, laugh, act silly, dance as if no one is watching, run around in the rain, enjoy this time together. Pick a book to read together and spend time sharing the adventure that lies within those pages. If you would like have them spend a little time on the various tech applications they have used this year such as Imagine Learning, Dreambox, etc., to help keep their skills active. The most important thing is to let them be kids!!! They have spent too much time this year locked in front of a computer screen.
As I have said, this year has been a challenging adventure for all of us. Together, though, we have made it work!! So, in closing out this year, in the words of a famous movie character, - “Hasta La Vista, Baby.”
See you August 17th...
Boone Bear Family,
Happy Last Day of School! What a school year it has been!!!
I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the support and love we have received during a very tough year. We could not have made it through all the ups and downs that were thrown our way without all of you. Our community showed an amount of grace and strength that was just simply wonderful to be part of this year.
We are all looking forward to some time away to recharge, but we are so excited to think about welcoming all of our students back to campus next year! We have missed so many of you being here with us on campus so it will definitely be a celebration to see everyone in the fall.
I hope your summer plans are filled with lots of laughs with family and friends! I am hoping to relax and read a few great books. It will be nice to see family and friends this summer after many months of having to be apart, and my hope is that you all will have lots of warm hugs too.
For those of you with fifth graders, I am sending them all best wishes for their new adventures! We are so proud of them and know they will do an amazing job at their new schools. I hope they know how much they are loved, and we will be rooting them on from here.
We have said it all year….we are stronger together. There is not a community who proved this to be more true than ours this school year! I love serving this community as the very proud Assistant Principal, and I cannot wait to see what we can do together next year!!
Sending lots of love,
Dear Boone Families,
I'm writing to share that I will be moving to north Austin over the summer to be closer to my family. After much thought and consideration, I have accepted a new counseling position at Highland Park Elementary. I'm excited about this new chapter and opportunity for my family. It has been a privilege to be a part of the Boone family for the past 7 years. Thank you for embracing me as your school counselor, trusting me with your children, and family. It has truly been an honor. I am going to miss the students, families, staff, and the entire Boone community.
With heartfelt gratitude,
