Graduation
Update February 21, 2020
Seniors, hopefully this is the last group email you get from the school instead of directly from me so we don’t pester those who are not walking in the ceremony any further.
If you are walking in the ceremony, please read on. Hopefully you have all contacted me, Happy Chronister, about walking on Tuesday, May 19. chronhap@gmail.com 907-240-7244 I am creating an email list of just students and parents of graduates who are participating.
We have some wonderful things planned for graduates that include a Winter Bonfire in Eagle River at the Wetzels, a potluck, a game night at the Evans home, a senior breakfast and a Baccalaureate Service. We are entertaining suggestions for a senior or senior parent to do a short (10 minute) devotional at the Baccalaureate Service.
We have had the Van Tuyl family graciously offer to pay the cost of having the 500 cupcakes made by a caterer instead of all you families making and transporting cupcakes. They will also pay for the cheese for the Graduation Reception so I won’t have to beg for volunteers. Thanks, Van Tuyl family for your generosity!
We had so many seniors indicate at our first meeting that they love to draw or do art that we are considering adding art displays to the reception area in the Commons area at East High. Let me know if you would like to display your art on graduation night. It would involve bringing the artwork mounted on some kind of poster board and set on an easel that each of you would need to bring. There is not a good way to attach anything to the walls at East.
Please look at and reply to me with your response to the Graduation 2020 Involvement Card if you want to volunteer for anything. We do have Wyatt Alexander who offered to create the Senior DVD/video. Yeah! Thanks, Wyatt.
That means in April I’ll be asking you to send us 5-7 photos of your graduate in digital form so that they can be included in the show that we run from 6:40 – 7:00 just before the graduation ceremony on May 19. These photos can be from babyhood up to adulthood.
Another thing to note on your calendar is that on Graduation day seniors need to be at East by 5:15 for a run through just before the ceremony. Come with a pressed gown, please. Wear it as we do some photos so that we save time during the ceremony.
I have attached a Graduation Checklist. Please read it and let me know if you have any questions.
Now is the time we start collecting the $30 graduation Fee from those participating in the ceremony. This pays for the professional photographer and the flowers. Please make a check out to FPCS PTSO and mail it to Happy Chronister, 4805 Manytell Ave., Anchorage, AK 99516 (parent teacher student organization)
Text me if you have any questions. I am retired so I’ll be in and out of town quite a bit, but I am always available by text. 240-7244 Thanks, Happy Chronister
This was in the Tidbits in case you missed it:
Graduation is less than 3 months away!
If you have not made direct contact by e-mail or text with Happy Chronister, the graduation coordinator, please let her know that you plan to walk in the ceremony. We have a wonderful, personalized graduation at East High Auditorium on May 19 and we would love to have graduates, their friends, and families attend.
Each graduate who submits 5-7 photos will be included in the slide show that we run starting at 6:40 on graduation night. The official ceremony begins at 7:00. We will feature special talents from our seniors so if you wish to audition contact Happy.
There is a $30 Graduation Fee that covers the cost of flowers and the professional photographer. Please send this fee to Happy Chronister at 4805 Manytell Ave., Anchorage, AK 99516.
Contact her at chronhap@gmail.com or 907-240-7244 to let her know you plan to walk in the ceremony. Then you can get on the e-mail list to find out details about deadlines and activities.
Activities this year may include a Winter Bonfire, a potluck, a game night, a senior breakfast and a Baccalaureate Service. Don’t miss out!
