A Message From Mrs. Burko
It's hard to believe we are mid-way through the third quarter already. Students will be receiving their progress reports on Wednesday, February 24th. Please reach out to teachers with questions or concerns.
We are closing out our celebration of Black History Month this week with a focus on the importance of HBCUs both historically and presently. To wrap up the week, students will hear directly from staff who are HBCU alumnus.
Thank you to all who have made adjustments to your families plans for reopening school. Cohort lists for students returning will be emailed on Friday, March 5th.
Please continue reading for additional important information.
Have a great week!
Yours in Service,
Mrs. April Burko

Reminder message from the district about planning for a NEW Virtual Learning Academy starting in August 2021:
The Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School District is committed to providing quality, innovative and flexible learning environments to meet the individual needs of all students. CHCCS is exploring the possibility of establishing a NEW High School Virtual Learning Academy (grades 9-12) for the 2021-22 school year starting in August where students would have the option to engage in personalized virtual settings.
The CHCCS Virtual Learning Academy will be structured to serve diverse student populations and those with unique educational, social, and emotional needs. Students who choose to apply to the CHCCS Virtual Learning Academy will still have the option to participate in athletics and extracurricular activities at their home school.
In order to begin determining the various parameters for a NEW CHCCS Virtual Learning Academy, we need to obtain information on the number of prospective students who may be interested. If you are interested in possibly enrolling your child in a CHCCS Virtual Academy next year, please complete the following survey. If you have more than one child entering high school next year, please complete a separate form for each child.
Please note that the potential opportunity of a NEW CHCCS Virtual Academy does not pertain to the reopening of schools under Plan B in March/April. Thank you and let us know if you have any questions.
