Analyzing Duke Orsino
BY JASMINE
TWELFTH NIGHT
IDENTITY
In the Twelfth Night Duke Orsino identifies himself as a manly man. He shows feelings for the women he loves but only loves Olivia for her looks and not personality. He likes to be in charge. He believes the women should always listen to their husbands. He sees himself as a man who everyone respects. "...Let still the woman take. An elder than herself. So wear she to him, So sways she level in her husband's heart. For, boy, however we do praise ourselves, our fancies are more giddy and unfirm, more longing, wavering, sooner lost and worn, than women's are" (II.iv.28-34). This is basically Orsino saying how a woman should be younger so that they can get adjusted to the man's costumes.

SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES
Orsino is someone people tend to trust. Just like Orsino, people have a way of trusting me with private matters. Also, Orsino has a soft side. I have a soft side as well because you know, I am a girl.
Even though we have similarities we both differ in many ways. One being that Orsino believes a woman should love him because of his class. I believe people are allowed to fall in love with who they want, which ever class they are in. Orsino also expresses his feelings in many ways and does not keep it a secret that the one he loves is Olivia. As for I, I tend to not express my feelings very much at all.

SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES
Duke and I share some similarities. For instance, in the movie Duke tells Viola/Sebastian that if he knew she was a girl he would not have told her some things he had already told her when he thought she was a boy. I am the same way. I can't just express my feelings with a guy. I have to have a girl listening and not a guy.
Even though we have a similarity, we do differ. In the movie Duke plays soccer. He is in a sport and is very good at it too. As for I, I do not play any sport at all. I cannot run fast enough to keep up with everyone else.
