New Playground Addition
Thanks to the generous donations from our Oakdale parents, families, and community members, our Community Club was able to purchase additional playground equipment that was installed last week. Now that the cement is set and we've built up enough anticipation, we are ready to open the new section of playground. On Monday at 3:00 pm, we will hold a small ribbon-cutting ceremony for the student body. One student was selected from each grade level to participate. These students embody our Three Be's on a daily basis. They include:
Kindergarten - Hunter L.
1st - Lauren C.
2nd - Zoey S.
3rd - Aum N.
4th - Trey R.
5th - John S.
6th - Gino V.
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the class who donated the most money to our Flood Relief Fund for DC West Public Schools this last week will be able to play on the new equipment first. Thank you to everyone for supporting Oakdale!

Something New For STEAM Night
New this quarter, instead of having our quarterly STEAM Night, Oakdale will be hosting a "Breakout of the Classroom Family Night." Breakout of the Classroom is a fun, interactive activity where families work together to answer clues. When they solve the clue, they use the answers to unlock a lock on their box. The goal is to get all their locks open before the time runs out. Bring the whole family to try your knowledge with all the breakout kits. We look forward to seeing you at this fun event!
What: Breakout of the Classroom Family Night
When: Thursday, April 11th, at 5:30 pm
Where: Oakdale Cafeteria Commons

Band-O-Rama Was A Success!
CONGRATULATIONS 5th and 6th grade Band students on a great job at Band-o-rama! Oakdale students did an amazing job during the rehearsal and represented our school with awesome attitudes and positive choices all day. A special thank you as well to all the families who attended our musical extravaganza!
Way to go OAKDALE!
Enrollment Information
Be on the lookout this month for our Returning Student Registration process for current Westside students. Starting in mid-April, parents will be asked to login to their parent PowerSchool account and update information and permission forms for the 2019-2020 school year.
Completing these forms now will reduce—at least a little bit—the information overload parents face when school starts in August. Once you're finished, your child will be registered for the 2019-2020 school year. and we will have up-to-date contact information for back-to-school communication this summer.

Teammates Program
If you have 30 minutes each school week to give to a child, consider being a TeamMates mentor. TeamMates provides support and encouragement to students through one-to-one, school-based mentoring. The impact of a TeamMates mentor in the life of a young person is remarkable, with mentees being more hopeful and engaged and seeing improvements in their attendance, behavior, and course performance. Our Oakdale mentors have raved about how the program has given THEM so much in return. If you are interested, contact Mrs. McPadden 402-408-8880.
