Otters Kindergarten with Ms. Bach!

We love to learn and have fun!

I HAVE THE BEST CLASS AND THE MOST CARING PARENTS1

Thank you all for my class gifts of the Alex and Ani bracelets. I enjoy wearing them so much. And besides, what other jewelry is made from recycled materials , crafted only by American artists, manufactured only by Americans and supports charitable causes in a huge way. Also, thank you for the many gift cards and individual gifts that made my holiday so special. I want to sit down and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate with all of you.

HOME:

I met with the parents of 9 students in the class before the Winter Holiday Break. We had some excellent conversations sharing the progress of their students. I know that the time in between Thanksgiving and the Winter Holidays was very hectic for many of you and it might have been very hard to carve out time to meet me then. If you would like to meet now or at any time in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me. You may email me at wbach@ccisd.net.

FUN AT SCHOOL!

THE NEXT 8 WEEKS UNTIL SPRING BREAK WILL FLY BY WITH ALL THE EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES!

Take a look at the IMPORTANT DATES below to see just how busy our Otters will be!

SCIENCE IS FUN!

Does your Kindergartner want to be a scientist?

PATTERNS IN THE EARTH AND SKY

We know that day and night are a revolving pattern on the Earth. We know that there are 4 seasons and that they happen in sequential order each year. We understand that the tilt of the Earth is the reason for the seasons. We've read books and watched videos about the Sun, Moon and the Earth, day and night and the Earth's four seasons. We've charted the weather using a graph and followed the temperature. We will be discussing how the thermometer, a science tool, allows us to measure the temperature and how we can use it to plan daily activities and decide what kind of clothes to wear.

Know that our science curriculum is set up for Kindergartners to experience the activity first and then discuss it, journal it, listen to nonfiction texts about it and watch videos about it. I think of it as explore, discover, and expand, done over several days!

THINGS TO DO AT HOME WITH YOUR KINDERGARTNER:

*Practice their PIN number.

*Practice writing your first name with an uppercase letter and lowercase letters.

*Practice identifying your letters and letter sounds.

*Practice recognizing your numbers to 21 and matching numerals with groups of objects.

*Practice counting to 21 forwards and backwards while moving objects from a pile. Pennies, beans, and even Skittles or M&M's are good for this.

*Practice tying your shoes.
