Superintendent Report
This past week, she attended the Senior Exhibitions at Oceana High and was nothing short of impressed with their thoughtful and detailed presentations.
She thanked Deputy Superintendent of Business Services Tina Van Raaphorst and Director of Communication and Staff Housing Austin Worden for hosting a successful Educational Housing staff priority lottery this past Friday.
A shout-out was given to the Student Advisory Board after her attending this past Monday's productive meeting and appreciated their taking time to address current school issues.
She wished everyone a restful Spring Break and shared that COVID home tests have been delivered to all school sites. Students and staff will be encouraged to take these tests before returning to school after the weeklong vacation.
Student Trustees Share Out
The Student Advisory Council meets bi-weekly throughout the year and focuses on topics of student interest. Student Advisory Representatives and Student Trustees present to the Board of Trustees each year.
Student Trustees Mustafa Abuzahriyeh (WHS) shared that the school hosted a coat drive donating over 150 coats and jackets to local charities. He mentioned Westmoor starting their annual student government elections with candidate sign-ups taking place after the break. He shared that this weekend kicks off Ramadan for the school's Muslim community.
Student Trustee Katalina Huazano (TNHS) mentioned their past week's March Madness spirit week and the large number of students participating in lunchtime activities, student/teacher volleyball, games, a rally, and more!
Student Trustee Nadia Shaw (JHS) was proud of her school's centennial celebration this past Saturday and was pleased to see so many Jefferson High School students and staff, past and present, in attendance.
