Red Ribbon Week 2018

Lago Vista ISD’s Viking Character Trait for the month of October’s is Respect! As a part of our character education activities for the month of October, Lago Vista ISD participates in the national Red Ribbon Campaign October 22-26, 2018. Red Ribbon Week is the largest drug prevention campaign in the nation. It is an ideal way for our schools and community to unite and take a visible stand against drugs.

We encourage students to pledge to respect themselves by being drug free. All students and staff are invited to show their personal commitment to a drug free lifestyle by participating in our 2018 Red Ribbon Week activities.

Pumpkin Character Walk

Teachers will be sending home information soon about our fun, upcoming pumpkin character activity! Students will choose a character from their favorite book, decorate a pie pumpkin (real, foam, paper), and write about their pumpkin. Students will bring their decorated pumpkin, along with the book, to school on October 31st for the school to see on the Pumpkin Character Walk. We can't wait to see all of the creative pumpkins!

Lost and Found

Cold weather hasn't started yet, but we have a lot of jackets (among other items) in the Lost and Found. If your child is missing his/her jacket, or lunchbox, please have them stop by the Lost and Found bin located in the corner of the cafeteria. Please make sure you label jackets, lunchboxes, and backpacks with your child's name so we can reunite lost items with their owners.

Character Trait of The Month...

October's Character Trait of The Month is Respect. Here are few ways we can show Respect...

  • Treat others with Respect, follow the Golden Rule;
  • Be tolerant and accepting of differences;
  • Use good manners, not bad language;
  • Be considerate of the feelings of others;
  • Don't threaten, hit or hurt anyone;
  • Deal peacefully with anger, insults, and disagreements.

Students will learn more about this month's character trait in weekly Guidance lessons.

Counselor's Corner

Hello LVES Families!

During the month of October, students are learning about the character trait of Respect. In our guidance class lessons, students are understanding that respect can mean being polite and using manners, as well as respecting other people’s differences. Students will also learn about respecting themselves, as we promote Red Ribbon Week and staying drug-free.

Our Red Ribbon Week Theme Days will be October 22-26!

Mon. “You’d Be Crazy to do Drugs”- Wear crazy hair, socks, & outfits! (No hats, please)

Tues. “Lei Off Drugs!”- Wear a lei and/or Hawaiian attire!

Wed. “We’re REaDy to Be Drug Free!”- Wear red for the Red Ribbon Pledge Signing!

Thur. “We are Too Bright to do Drugs!”- Wear bright or neon colors!

Fri. “Team Up Against Drugs!”- Wear your blue & gold Viking spirit wear!

Let’s show our community how the Lago Vista Elementary School Vikings know how to respect themselves and others by pledging to be drug-free!

Lun. "Estarías loco por consumir drogas": ¡usa cabello, calcetines y atuendos locos! (Sin sombreros, por favor)

Martes "Lei Off Drugs!" - ¡Lleve un lei y / o atuendo hawaiano!

Mie.
