HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 3 Week 8 Friday 10 September
FROM MARK
Dear Parents and Guardians,
In answer to the question, ‘where am I on the journey?’ - the answer lies within us. Powerful stuff.
Wednesday’s Eucharist parent child workshops were very well attended. No doubt the Eucharist commitment masses over the weekend will be too. The following Saturday evening sees the children make their First Communion. This all makes for a big faith commitment on the part of themselves and their families. We congratulate them and pray that they will be richly blessed on their journey.
Next Friday sees our school athletics carnival for our Children from Pre-Primary to Year Six take place on the oval. Pray for great weather! This is a popular event for parents and extended family to come along to, and we would welcome the pleasure of your company. We are only too well aware that these opportunities are not available around much of the country so hope that you can be a part of it.
Enjoy the weekend.
Mark de Kluyver
Principal

CAR PARKING NEAR THE CHURCH
Parishioners are unable to get parking spots and some have to walk quite a distance to get to Church.
TEACHER GET TO KNOW YOU - ANA JOHNSON
My Year 6/7 teacher, Dave Kent. He was so genuine and funny, and he told the most amazing stories! I have several Banjo Patterson poems imprinted into my memory thanks to him.
Is there anything you wished would come back into fashion?
Probably the bowl haircut, so I could feel less embarrassed by photos from my childhood.
Do you love or hate rollercoasters?
As long as they don’t go through any tunnels, I’m good!
What's your favourite family tradition?
Late night walks on the golf course across the road from my parents’ house.
Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?
I asked my husband who should play me, and he said Sir Ian McKellen… I’m not sure what to make of that.
What's your favourite zoo animal?
Elephants for sure. I could watch them for hours on end!
What was the last book you read?
The Bookwoman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michelle Richardson
If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
I’d probably hike somewhere beautiful and then spend time reading and writing. I’d also have a massive bag of snacks!
If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have?
Such a hard question! I would probably choose to freeze time. I’d be so productive!

OUR FOUR PILLARS P & F NEWS
Fathers Day Breakfast
Wow what an amazing turnout we had for our Father’s Day Breakfast. It was great to see so many Dads enjoying the morning with their kids. The hot food, cereal, fruit, and croissants went down a treat and was a great way to start a Friday! Everyone enjoyed the tug of war with the kids being victorious on the day. An awesome raffle was also drawn with the Hayes, Bradley, and Spiteri family winning some great prizes including a ladder, framed West Coast Eagles poster, and a carton of beer! Special thanks to all our P&F volunteers and our year 5 parent volunteers for all your many hours of hard work to make it such a great event.
We hope all you Dads enjoyed it and got some rest on Father’s Day!
Lapathon
Just a friendly reminder that pledges from the Lapathon are due!

Science News
Science Talent Search Competition
We have a number of students from Holy Rosary School entering the Science Talent Search Competition. They have completed investigations, posters, videos and research.
Ms Skinner will be helping with the judging of the competition over the next month or so.
We wish all of the students the best of luck with their endeavours.
In Pre-Primary we have been learning about lots of different materials.
We are lucky enough to have a carpentry bench. The children were very excited to try using wood and metal this week.
We were very careful to ensure we didn't hit our own fingers! It was great fun.
LIBRARY NEWS
Congratulations to all 40 Senior Chess players! The winner of the Holy Rosary Senior Chess Tournament for 2021 is Antonio T. Anthony Bs played a great game coming 2nd place, with William T in 3rd and Spencer T 4th. Another fantastic ending to a great chess season!! Well done!!
I am always amazed by the skill of our players from year 1 to year 6 and am grateful for the expertise of our year 5 and 6 umpires. Thank you for teaching and encouraging your children to participate in this great game! Chess will be back in 2022 so keep playing.
We asked each other in library ‘R U OK?’ and watched a short info video. The students have brought home some yellow conversation starters and I hope they are asking you if you are ok too!

🍔🥪🥗 Athletics Carnival Lunches🍔🥪🥗
Hi everyone, well the big day is almost upon us again and its time to think of what to prepare for lunch!
There will be a limited Special Events Menu on that day, and to help with catering I am asking for ALL orders to be in by THURSDAY 9am!
NO ORDERS WILL BE TAKEN ON FRIDAY.
Spectators are, again, invited to forget about bringing lunch and let us do the work. For this to run smoothly, if using quickcliq – please use the Add Student function and for each spectator so as a label is produced for each lunch ordered, please put in the comment section if the order is for a spectator or a child as the orders will be placed in separate boxes.. don’t forget to put the faction on the order.
Recess will not be available to purchase so please bring your own.
Lunches, if the faction is stated on order, will be delivered to the corresponding marquees.
Drinks and Ice-creams etc will not be able to be pre-ordered but are available to be purchased at any time at the canteen.
Any questions, please call me on 0414 953 958. Hope everyone has a marvellous day!
Leanna.
P.S. if anyone has time to relieve any of my wonderful volunteers, feel free to pop in!
