Summer Athletic Information for Returning Mavericks
Parents,
I know that some of our athletes might not continue with athletics next year but I would love for them to reconsider and join us for another great year in Murphy Athletics. The football team looks to defend their undefeated season in hopes for a city championship. We had such a fantastic group and we relied on each person for the success of the team.
If you are leaving, Farewell:
It was an honor to be able to work with your children over the last year and it saddens me that I was not able to send them off with a proper goodbye as we were robbed of our end of year traditions. I hope that they were able to take away something from their time at Murphy and hopefully myself or one of their coaches has had a lasting impact on their lives especially as we journey through these troubling times and the uncertainty of the future. I want all of my athletes to know to not be afraid to say hi if they see me out in public, at one of their events, or at school. Finally, I want to thank each of them for the hard work and dedication I demanded, and they poured into their time as a Murphy Maverick. We will miss them.
SUMMER STRENGTH/CONDITIONING IS VOLUNTARY!! - WE must follow several, very strict procedures in order to assure the safety of each participant (more details to come later). Physicals
If they are planning on participating in the strength and conditioning program they will a copy of their physical. Physicals must be within a 2 year window based on the date on the physical in order for it to be valid. That window must extend to the end of the camp 7/31 for it to be used at this camp. You can obtain a copy of you physical by logging in to Rank One and downloading a copy from the site. Moving forward physicals must be dated after May 1st and are recommended to be completed entering 7th, 9th, and 11th grade. Just FYI there is a plan to eventually require physicals every year but due to COVID, that will not be started this upcoming school year.
All Positions Camp
As of right now, the district is wanting to get more information and see the results of a few weeks of strength and conditioning before deciding on the restrictions for All Positions Camp. This is typically held the last week of July, but nothing is certain at the moment. I would look for guidance probably sometime in early to mid July or hopefully sooner if things look like they are going well. This is something that I highly recommend for our players because it gives them access to all of their coaches, all the way up to the senior high, and gets them started on the schemes and concepts that we will be implementing during the season; while also fine tuning their skills for their positions.
Off-Season Hoodies
There were a lot of parents that reached back out and told me that they believed their students left their hoodies in their lockers. I was able to locate a giant stack of hoodies that appears as if it was pulled from the athletic lockers during clean out. So if any of you were wondering if you still need to be looking in your child’s room or asking where their off-season hoodie is, you no longer need to worry about it. If you still have an Off-Season Hoodie at home you can hold on to it and bring it back to the school if/when they return.
Thank you for all of your support, stay safe, healthy, and have a great summer.

Summer Athletic Information for McMillen Freshman
Parents,
I know that some of our athletes might not continue with athletics at McMillen and this information might not pertain to you or only some of it might. If you have any questions about the information presented don’t hesitate to reach out to myself or the McMillen staff.
GOODBYE:
It was an honor to be able to work with your children over the last 2 years and it saddens me that I was not able to send them off with a proper goodbye as we were robbed of our end of year traditions. I try to stay heavily involved in their journeys as they move up to the high school and senior high, but sadly I might not see or speak to some of them ever again. I hope that they were able to take away something from their time at Murphy and hopefully myself or one of their coaches has had a lasting impact on their lives especially as we journey through these troubling times and the uncertainty of the future. I want all of my athletes to know to not be afraid to say hi if they see me out in public, at one of their events, or at their school. I am always intrigued with how our former Murphy athletes are doing after they leave us. They are welcome to come back to Murphy and I love to have former athletes come talk to our current athletes about what they experienced and what they learned or did to get through their time as a Middle School student. Finally, I want to thank each of them for the hard work and dedication I demanded, and they poured into their time as a Murphy Maverick. We will miss them.
