Floods for starters

The definition of the word flood is ,''An overflowing amount of water above its normal confines''. One example of a flood in action was in Japan in 2009. This catastrophic event killed around 300, injured 40 and two went missing.

Effects of floods : positive and negative

Positive effects almost outweigh the negative effects. A positive thing that floods do, is that they keep the land elevation above the sea level. An example of a negative effect is that they release toxin and pollution. Also, floods flood sewage and drainage. When a flood happens they destroy buildings and property. Floods also kill alot of people in the immediate area.

Interesting facts

Flash floods can also bring water up to 10-20 feet of water. Floods also help spread human pollution and toxins. Also, floods are just behind tornadoes in the list of natural disasters. Normally floods take a few days to form.
