COVID-19 Testing Program Update
COVID-19 Testing Consent Process
Dear EUSD Families and Staff,
We are writing to provide an update and next steps for the onsite COVID-19 Testing Program for district students and staff that will be of no cost to families and employees. We are happy to have secured medical personnel to establish our testing teams. All members of the teams that will be administering the test and reviewing the results have medical experience and some have prior experience with COVID-19 testing programs. As we shared in last week’s special update, we are aiming to offer the following testing services to our students and staff:
- Asymptomatic Testing will be available for students attending school under a modified quarantine. A COVID-19 Testing Team will go to the school site to administer the Antigen test to the students in modified quarantined classes. As mentioned previously, parents or guardians will need to consent to this testing for their child/ren. Students self-swab and results are typically determined within 15 minutes. Parents receive the notification of the results via email. There is no cost to families. If a student tests positive, they will be required to move to at home isolation and get a PCR test. We were able to start this testing TODAY with some of our modified quarantine classes. Moving forward, we will schedule on site testing at the same time initial parent notifications go out when there is a positive case.
- Symptomatic Testing for students and staff will be available at our central testing site, Farm Lab when testing kits arrive. Unfortunately, there is currently a shortage of tests across California and we are awaiting our shipment. Until then, individuals should get tested at County sites or with their physicians. We will inform families and staff as soon as this is available.
IMPORTANT NEXT STEP FOR ALL FAMILIES AND STAFF:
In order to offer COVID-19 testing to students and staff, a consent form will need to be reviewed and completed. This evening (Wednesday, September 1), the primary contact for each student and staff member will receive a separate email from Primary.Health with instructions to open and review a consent form for COVID-19 testing for your student(s) or for yourself (staff members). Please ensure that the consent form includes the complete legal name (not a nickname) of your students(s). There is a separate consent form for each student. The email provides a link to view and complete the form. For step by step instructions, please click here. Please complete the consent form(s) for each of your students as soon as possible. This will allow us to support the testing needs of the district quickly when there is a need.
Please know that we are working diligently to continue to expand these efforts. We appreciate your patience and know this current step is essential in supporting students remaining safe and in school.
