Wiggin Street Parent Update

January 20, 2023

Better Together

Dear Wiggin Street Families,

Our Math-a-thon is in full swing and students can begin collecting pledge donations. Prizes will be passed out starting Wednesday, February 8th.

Next Friday, Richard Cowdrey will be visiting our students. Paragraph's will have a table set up the morning of the 27th for anyone that would like to still purchase Richard Cowdrey's books the day of his visit.

Lastly, don't forget to order your child's yearbook. The sale has begun, and there is a link below. Also, there is a chance of snow Sunday night, so make sure that you are signed up for our Instant Connect messages. You can find the link below. Have a great weekend!

Stay warm,

Christy Grandstaff

Richard Cowdrey- Visiting Author/Illustrator

We are excited that Richard Cowdrey, bestselling author and illustrator of the Fiona the Hippo series and Gambier resident, will be visiting Wiggin Street next Friday, January 27th.

We will have a limited number of books to purchase on the day of the author visit for those that missed the preorder sale. Cash, check, and/or card will be accepted that morning. Paragraph's will have a table set up in front of the office during morning drop off.

Math Medley

Ms. Waugh's class answered math questions on Kahoot and played math games to celebrate!

Math-A-Thon

Prizes for the Math-A-Thon will be passed out starting Wednesday, February 8th. The money raised from this fundraiser will help the school purchase Makerspace & STEM resources. Our school and students have benefited greatly from your generosity of past Math-A-Thons. We appreciate your support of this fundraiser.

2022-23 School Fees

School fees are assessed and must be paid every school year. Elementary school fees are $30 per student. You can pay by credit card or bank draft on-line using the PayForIt.net website, or you can pay by sending a check, cash or money order at Wiggin Street School or the MVCSD Board Office.

Inclement Weather Calamity Days

The following link will provide you with details shared by Superintendent Seder on how the decision is made for closings and delays. “School Closings and Delays - How is the Decision Made”

Also, we use ‘Instant Connect Alerts’ as our closings and delays notification system which is how you probably received this Parent Update. If not, please make sure you have signed up at Instant Connect portal.

Lastly, if school is on a 2-hour delay, we will start school at 11:00 am with drop-off beginning at 10:40. Lunch will always be pizza on delay days, and no breakfast will be served.

WINTER WEATHER

Please remember that students will go outside on days where the temperature with wind chill accounted for is 20°f and above. Be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather each day. Coats, hats, and gloves are necessary at this time of the year. Boots are required for playing in the snow. If you need assistance with winter outerwear for your child, please contact our school, and we will happily find warm clothes for them.

Yearbook Sale January 13th-28th

Yearbooks will be on sale next week and are $16.00. Order envelopes will be going home next week, but they can also be ordered online at this site.
