Volume 2 Issue 4
Did you know . . .
We have students exploring the route of historical individuals and events using Google Earth. I don't know about you but when I was in school we had to rely on the pictures in a book or, if I was lucky, a slide show of a teachers trip, no, not Keynote, Powerpoint or Google slides, literally a slide show!!! Our students have the power to explore places they have never physically been to!!
We have students sharing their analysis of short stories using a variety of tech tools. Here are some resources a teacher and I found for a project they did in their classroom. Please keep in mind that it is not necessarily learning how to use the tool that is the goal of the lesson but using the tool to help reach the goal or demonstrating that the goal has been reached.
We have students and staff stepping out of their comfort zone on a daily basis for the sake of education. Whether it is creating a contact folder or using Google Forms or setting up a mystery call with another teacher in another location - we are doing it!! It is happening here at LCS and it is happening because it is what our students need!
Don't underestimate what you are doing!! Check out this video! "Obvious to You. Amazing to Others"
The Innovator's Mindset By George Cuoros
You can find out a bit more about George's thoughts behind this graphic on his blog post here.
What do you think? Do you agree? Is there anything I can do to help enhance these priorities in your classroom ?
Reflecting . . .
We are at the start of the 4th quarter, are you where you want to be?
What do you still want to work on?
I have learned a little trick from my TIES Coach. She often reminds me that when I attend a training or have all these "things" I want to try, to ask myself these three questions . . .
"What can I try tomorrow?"
"What can I try next month?"
"What can I try next semester/year?"
What do you want to try tomorrow or next month? We still have plenty of time!! What can I help with?!?!
TIES We are a subscriber school so most of the TIES trainings are no cost to you. They offer classes at a variety of times and formats! Click here to see a list of TIES offerings. There are courses for beginners and for those that are looking to be challenged with a new topic.
Anyone want to get together and participate in the "Go from "Techphonbic" to "Tech-Ninja" in Just 1 Day" on 4/9/16? It is a free webinar with a couple of different breakout sessions. Let me know and we can find a space to watch together.
Here is a direct link to the Trainings page on the LCS Technology Coaching website. As I come across trainings I try to post them here. Feel free to let me know if you hear of any that others might be interested in.
