We will once again be using an online format for signing up for your conference day and time. You should have received communication from your child's teacher with their conference signup link. If you have any questions about how to navigate the signup, please reach out to Maria Beken at 303-982-4853.
The Eiber staff will be providing a Spaghetti Dinner for families on conference nights. This will be free for parents and children so you do not have to worry about making dinner and getting to conferences on the same evening. Dinner will be served from 4:30-7:00pm.
Attention! SNAP Benefits Are Changing after February 2023!
SNAP households will see a reduction in monthly SNAP benefits in March 2023 due to the recent congressional action. SNAP households will see a reduction in their monthly benefits to the pre-pandemic amount. Benefit amounts are calculated based on the individual household circumstances.
A few helpful tips:
If you are able to, you can roll over your EBT benefits to the next month. This may help “cushion” the impact of the reduction in benefits.
You can stock up on non-perishable items now, while you have the additional benefits. Click on this link for tips on stocking your pantry: English ;Spanish
Stretch your ingredients and plan to use them in more than one meal. This helps to save money and reduce food waste. Click for more tips: English ; Spanish
Consider freezing your produce to make fruit and vegetables last longer English ; Spanish
Look at the Unit Prices to compare similar products at the grocery store English; Spanish
If you find yourself in need of some food support due to the decrease in SNAP benefits, please do not forget about some of our amazing community partners and all of the support they offer or families! Here is some information on some of our local resources as a reminder.

Did you know it is still respiratory Season?
The period from early October to late May is when viruses like RSV, Influenza and COVID-19 are all circulating. In these colder months, we see a lot of stomach bugs as well. It’s important for parents and guardians to keep their children home from school if they are experiencing any new symptoms. Keeping your child at home when they are sick will help avoid spreading germs to others. Children also need rest to recover from illness and without enough rest, it may take your child longer to feel better.
Please see the attached flyer for some prevention strategies from Jefferson County Public Health as well as information from the Colorado Department of Public health that can help families decide when to keep their kids home from school.

LAST FEW DAYS TO GIVE US YOUR FEEDBACK!
We would greatly appreciate your feedback! We really need to hear how you, our amazing Eiber families feel about our school and the district. We have only had 13 families fill out the survey and would really love more feedback. Results from the survey will be used to improve our district and your student(s) learning environment. The survey is anonymous and will only take around 15–20 minutes to complete. Please consider filling the survey out.
The survey closes on Friday, March 3. Click on or copy/paste this link into your browser: https://surveys.panoramaed.com/jeffco/family to complete the survey. We also have paper copies available in English and Spanish at school. Please reach out to Maria Beken at 303-982-4853 if you would like a paper copy.
Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback! Your voice is essential in identifying what is working well and what needs improvement as we deliver on our mission to provide a world-class education that prepares all Jeffco students for bright and successful futures.
FAMILY ENGAGEMENT NEWS!
Hello Eiber families! Our March newsletter from The Parent Institute is now available and contains some great information that will help support student learning at home. Please take some time to read through the attached newsletter for some great tips that will help you provide a positive impact on your student's achievement. We send out this newsletter monthly so please keep an eye out for it!
Here are some tips from the Parent Institute that families can use to help children to be better in school!
Encourage Critical Thinking!
Critical thinking helps students analyze information and understand how it relates to a bigger picture. To help your elementary school develop this skill:
- Allow time for your child to ty to solve problems independently. Ask questions like "How could you figure that out?"
- Encourage reflection. Ask how your child thinks a completed project or task went. "Did you plan enough time to finish? What did you learn from doing it?"
- Consider current events. Have your child read an article ad express an opinion on an issue. Then ask, "Why might other people think differently?"
Ask your child questions that require more than a yes or no answer: "What was your favorite part of the story?"
Have each family member write a funny sentence. Put them together to create a story.
Play a card game, such as Go Fish, with your child.
I hope to see you all here at conferences next week!

Wish for Wheels serves second graders from Title 1 schools with new bikes and helmets while providing an amazing team-building experience for their partners. Last week, Wish for Wheels and Chinook Therapeutics came to Eiber and worked together to build the bikes and then took time to help adjust each bike and helmet for each child. Thank you for promoting the development of an active and healthy lifestyle for our students! We are so grateful for your generosity and support!
