EHMS Weekly Update 1/29/24 - 2/2/24
Principal's Message
Good afternoon,
During HR today, students were provided their Quarter 2 report cards to bring home. The first page of the packet you will receive an explanation of our grading procedures coupled with a reference document on how to breakdown your child's overall grade in PowerSchool. The second page will include your child's report card with the back including a reference document to the rubrics for Habits of Success. As you look through your child's report card, please reach out to your child's specific teacher if you have any questions regarding a particular class.
Thank you for your continued partnership.

Parents are asked to join our schools and speak to children about marijuana edibles. While legal for purchase by adults in CT, please note that the psychoactive ingredient, THC, is still considered a controlled substance in school.
We have had recent incidents at our schools in which students are consuming THC edibles - with and without knowing what they contain.
The school district treats consumption and distribution of a controlled substance very seriously.
- Students who ingest or bring gummies to school will face consequences up to and including 10-days of suspension.
- Those who distribute gummies on school grounds will face consequences up to and including expulsion from school.

The Connecticut Regional Scholastic Awards is a high-quality level, professionally juried event which recognizes only the best CT student artwork from students in grade 7-12. Student artwork is juried by professional artists and university art faculty and is selected on merit for inclusion in a state-wide art exhibition held at the University of Hartford Art School. Beyond the honor of being selected for this high-quality exhibit, students may be awarded Gold or Silver keys and Honorable Mention Awards in each of 18 media categories.
This year three 8th grade students earned an award for their artwork. Alivia Peterson earned a gold key award for her Spoon Dress design entered in the fashion category. Anna Bothamley earned a silver key award for her Necklace design entered in the jewelry category. Brenna Mai earned an honorable mention award for her Tulips print entered in the printmaking category. Congratulations to all three for their commitment to the arts!
This week we held some PBIS sprit days! In observance of Groundhog Day, students were asked to predict if winter will continue or if we will see an early spring. On Monday it was dress as teacher or student day. Below is Mr. Kiser and Mr. Quinn with some students who participated!

A phone call is appreciated, but only an email to our attendance inbox or written note can officially excuse absence 1 through 9. Below is our attendance email:
Note: Between the school name and the word Attendance is a underscore ( _ )

If a student has four unexcused absences in one month or 10 unexcused absences in a year they are classified as truant. If a child misses 18 or more days in a school year – excused or unexcused absences – the student is classified as chronically absent.

School Based Health
Happy New Year! Did you resolve to be more on top of your and your child’s health this year? Here’s an easy solution: Sign your child up for School-Based Health Care. Your child’s school works with Community Health Center, Inc.’s School-Based Health Care program to provide health services to your child during the school day. This means they won’t miss as much class and you don’t need to miss work to support their health care needs. Learn more about the services offered at your child’s school and enroll today at SBHC1.com!
