Center Community Chat

February 19, 2022

Dear Center Community,

Students in wing B were thrilled to welcome back our furry friends on Wednesday. The monthly visit from She's a Keeper is always a favorite among staff and students alike.

So nice to see so many families at BINGO night. It was fun to gather remotely, hopefully we can bring this tradition back to in person next year. Special thanks to Amy Tatton for organizing and Renee Driscoll, Colleen Marino, and Stephanie Santos for calling the games.

As you read in Dr. Lang's update, when we return from break masking will be optional except in the following circumstances:

  • Students and staff returning from a 5-day quarantine following a positive COVID-19 test must follow strict mask use, other than when eating, drinking, or outside, and conduct active monitoring for symptoms, through day 10 of exposure.

  • Masks will be required in all school health offices.

  • Masks must be worn on school buses.

It is strongly recommended that students and staff who are not vaccinated or are immunocompromised remain masked.

Please talk about this change with your students. Many thanks to Byam counselor, Lyndsay O'Neil for creating and sharing the social story below (Please press the button). We trust that every member of our community will respect individual decisions.

Enjoy the break. Our next Chat will be sent on March 6th.

Warm regards,

Dianna and Donna

Lift As You Climb- The Story of Ella Baker

Ella Baker lived her life fighting racial injustices and empowering African Americans to stand up for their rights, seeking freedom for all. Ella lived by words her mother taught her: "Lift as you climb." What an inspiring message for all!
