Principal Allen's Weekly Newsletter

October 16 , 2019

Dear Spicewood Elementary Parents & Community Members,

Welcome to another week of learning! I hope you had a restful weekend with your family and friends. I loved seeing parents on campus yesterday for fall conferences. Thank you for partnering with us in your child's education.

We have several important events occuring next week so please be sure to check dates at the end of my newsletter. I also want to remind you of the Teaching Garden clean up this Saturday from 8:30AM -11:30AM. We hope to see you there!

Have a wonderful week!

Coins for Coats

The Round Rock Area Serving Center carries out a community-wide mission serving needs in Round Rock and the surrounding areas. One of the services provided includes Coins for Coats. This is an opportunity for students to help other students obtain a coat for the winter through Keep Round Rock Warm, a coat distribution project. Last year the project raised $22,572.73. If you would like to participate there will be a bucket in the library for spare change through October 21. Checks will also be accepted. Checks can be made to RRASC: Keep RR Warm.

Red Ribbon Week: October 21st-25th

Red Ribbon Week is a time when students explore and celebrate making healthy choices for their minds, bodies, and hearts through a variety of activities. Students and staff are encouraged to dress up each day to celebrate living a healthy lifestyle.

  • Tuesday: Being healthy is NO SWEAT! Wear sweats or active wear
  • Wednesday: Being healthy is a SUPER POWER! Wear superhero shirts and/or capes
  • Thursday: DREAM of healthy choices! Wear pajamas
  • Friday: TEAM up for healthy choices! Wear your favorite professional or college sports shirt/jersey

Come out on Saturday, Oct 19th and help us remove weeds, build a new bed, and tend to the garden. Please bring gloves and shoes that can get dirty. Breakfast will be provided.

Spicewood Auction Baskets

The Spicewood Auction is Friday, Nov. 8th at 6pm (stay tuned for ticket information). This is a fun parent night in the name of fundraising! A creative way to volunteer for the Gala is helping to make themed toy baskets for the silent auction. Click the link below to help!
