Wordle-Style Puzzle with Flippity
Wordle-Style Flippity- #102
If you have seen green, yellow, and black squares along with numbers being shared across social media, then you have seen the new popular game- Wordle.
How Do You Play Wordle?
- A five-letter word is selected
- You then have six tries to guess what the word is.
- After each guess, the color of the tiles will change to show how close your guess was to the word.
- A green brick indicates that the letter is correct and in the exact location; a yellow brick indicates that the letter appears in the word but in a different place; and a gray or black brick indicates that the letter does not appear anywhere in the word.
How Can Wordle Be Used in the Classroom?
- Use it as a warm-up either with a random word or a word from the day's lesson
- Post a Wordle each day with a new vocabulary word for students. Once they've solved the Wordle, have them look up the definition and then try to use it the rest of the class period.
- Have students create a wordle for their classmates.
- During important events or holidays, create themed Wordles (like spring or March madness or Pi Day)

Below, I've collected a number of digital resources to help you create learning around this month of reflection and celebration.
- National African American History Month website- This page collects exhibits from a number of institutions including the Smithsonian, Library of Congress, the National Park Service, U.S. Holocaust Memorial, and many others, making this a one-stop shop for online presentations and exhibits.
- Discover the origin African American History Month. For the younger elementary, here is a background article from National Geographic Kids.
- Check out Google for Education Applied Digital Skills for lessons.
