Monday Memo

September 7, 2015

Welcome Back!

Thank you to all staff for the efforts you have made to begin a new school year! Get ready to Engage, Educate, and Empower our students to reach their highest potential. Spend the early weeks of September building relationships and setting high expectations for learning and behavior(teaching it and reteaching it). Do they know what you expect? How do you know they know?

Middle school students will test you for your trustworthiness. Stay consistent and do not emotionally engage with those who will test your patience. Be the stable and calm force they need. I can guarantee that by the end of October a few students(mostly 7th grade boys) will walk angrily into my office stating they "know their rights!" Know that nothing a student does is personal. See students through a lens of compassion and humor when you can. Follow your management plan! Let's make 2015 the best school year yet. WE ARE KUEHN-HAVEN!
