We design with the end in mind
and beyond - assessment for/as/of learning and competence
Pre-assignments for our assessment sessions and outline for the contact days!
1. Positioning yourself to assessment
Let's wander down memory lane... remember when you were a student yourself
- What are your earliest, or most vivid memories of assessment? In primary education, in second and in tertiary?
- Why are these experiences memorable?
- What was pleasing (positive) or frustrating for you?
- How have these experiences affected the way YOU assess now?
Make your notes and bring them to the session!
2. Watch the video clips on assessment on the ThingLink board.
(an inhouse-training of HH UAS teachers 2015- 2017). The clips are still valid and provide you with a framework for understanding the many perspectives of assessment.
3. Formulate questions about assessment and vote!
Based on your reflections and video viewing:
write down your assessment related questions (2-3) on the Dotstroming board
1. Enter your name to participate and then click join
2 Click the add an idea and write your questions (each one in a separate sticky note) and add them to the the board.
3. You will find question/s submitted by your peers and when you find them really interesting and worth discussing – please vote them (you have 3 votes) by clicking the dot in the digital sticky note!
We will be discussing the questions you have voted to be the most interesting ones during our session!
Please - write your questions and vote by 23 March 2017!
4. An outline for the coming contact week 27 - 31 March
5. Bring-alongs to various workshops!
2. Do not forget to take with you your study guide or syllabus where the assessment criteria of your study module is stated and explained. We will be discussing assessment criteria in the Tuesday workshop.
3. Bring along an example of your assessment methods you use or willing to use.
We will be looking into them in the Wednesday workshop.
4. Student assessment should be ethical, fair, useful and accurate.
What ethical problems have you encountered when assessing students. Please bring an ethical problem you want to discuss with your colleagues to the Thursday workshop.
We are looking forward to seeing you all on 27 March 2017!
