Attendance and Grades
Dear Parents,
Be sure to stay up to date with your student's grades and attendance. Click the link below for information on Skyward Family Access and accessing your child's grades and attendance.
Please be sure to send a note when your child's been out for any reason. With COVID cases and quarantines that necessitate numerous absences, absence notes are especially important for you to remember.
Students in Pre-K will receive progress reports at 12 weeks, 24 weeks, and 36 weeks, viewable in Skyward. The level of student mastery will be indicated with the following terms: Exceeds Expectations, Meets Expectations, Approaches Standards, Improvement Needed.
Students in kindergarten and 1st grade receive an anecdotal progress monitoring form at the 3-week mark of each grading period. In addition, students in kindergarten and 1st grade will receive a standards-based report card at the end of each 6-week grading period which is viewable on Skyward. The level of student mastery will be indicated with the following terms: Exceeds Expectations, Meets Expectations, Approaches Standards, Improvement Needed.
Students in 2nd grade will have progress reports viewable in Skyward at the 3-week mark of each grading period. In addition, students in 2nd grade will receive a report card for each 6-week grading period. Grades will be a combination of numerical averages for the 4 content areas and letter scores for Fine Arts, Physical Education, and Conduct.
Besides checking Skyward Family Access to monitor grades, another great way to stay informed is to review student work coming home. You'll be able to review what your child is working on in class, what grade level expectations look like, what topics were challenging for your student, which topics were easy for your student, and if your student made corrections.
It's important for you to know that our teachers are available to discuss grading questions, concerns, or celebrations at any time. We encourage consistent communication between family and school, so don't hesitate to reach out!
Report cards for the 1st 6 weeks will be viewable in Skyward Family Access on 9/30.

COVID Considerations and Updates
At this time, face coverings are optional in BCISD. Due to the impact of COVID on SGE and all of our BCISD campuses, however, we are encouraging families to revisit the issue of face coverings and to consider having students wear a face covering as a possible mitigation against the transmission to COVID.
In order to support students and families at school, all classrooms have disinfectant wipes and face coverings available to any student who requests one.
In accordance with new health guidance from the Texas Education Agency, any student who is living in the same household with an individual who is COVID positive, is considered household-based close contact and must remain home during the stay-at-home period. Click the button below to read TEA's complete statement.

SGE Car Line Update...
We are proud to report...
... the PreK/Kindergarten line is wrapping up dismissal by around 3:43 each day.
...the 1st/2nd grade line is wrapping up dismissal by around 3:35 each day.
And our times continue to improve! That's 30+ minutes faster than the first day of school dismissal time! We appreciate your patience and cooperation as our team of students, parents, and teachers have found our dismissal groove!
An important dismissal reminder...
The front office closes from 3:00pm until 3:45 each day. As we work to dismiss our students in a timely and orderly fashion, we must keep the front entry/exit doors uncrowded. As a result, parents needing to check their students out must do so before 3:00pm or after the car line is finished. A parent walking up to check a student out is not permitted during this time.
