MTRS Student and Family Update
9/25/2020
Dear MTRS Community,
Another week of remote learning is in the books! As Assistant Principal Zamer and I virtually visit classrooms, we are seeing some pretty cool stuff! Students are collaborating in break out rooms, teachers are demonstrating science experiments, and technology apps are being utilized including jamboard, interactive websites, and hyperdocs.
As we prepare to enter the month of October (wow!) I wanted to share the following updates with you.
Wednesday, September 30 Schedule
MTRSD Virtual Town Hall COVID-19 School Planning
Superintendent Stanton will be hosting a virtual town hall on Tuesday, September 29 from 6-7PM via Facebook live. To view the town hall please visit the MTRS Facebook page (you do not need a Facebook account) to attend. https://www.facebook.com/events/2001881929953357
Save the Date: Materials Distribution for Trimester 1
A second round of materials will be distributed for the start of the Trimester 1 for students in grades 9-12 on Thursday, October 22 from 3 PM–6 PM. Middle school families (grades 7 & 8): stay tuned to your email; I will let you know if there will be additional materials to pick-up.
Returning Materials and Paperwork
During our first materials distribution, you should have received your BACK TO SCHOOL FORMS. These forms can be either scanned and emailed back to Christie Niles: cniles@mtrsd.org or dropped off in our return bin outside the front door (this is a secure box). If you would like to scan and email your documents, check-out the scan feature in the notes app if you have an iPhone or android.
For students in Grades 10-12, if you need to return textbooks or other materials at the end of the Recovery Quarter, you can place them in this bin as well. Please email your teacher to let them know you returned the materials.
Student Absences
If a student is absent from school or needs to miss a class, please contact the main office at 413-625-9811 to report this absence. Doctor’s notes can be emailed to Christie Niles: cniles@mtrsd.org or faxed: 413-625-6652
Food Distribution
GREAT news about school lunches as we kick-off the school year! Lunches will be FREE for all children ages 18-years and younger through Dec. 31, 2020 thanks to an extension of the USDA’s food service programs!
IF you would like your child(ren) to participate in school lunches, you’ll need to register (pre-order). Preorder for all weeks OR be sure to preorder by the Friday before service is needed.
Lunches will be provided at all district schools. If it’s easier for an MTRS family to pick up at your local elementary school, rather than coming to MTRS, please indicate it on the registration form. You can find all the info you need and registration form here: www.mtrsd.org/food-services. School lunch menus can also be found on that page.
