Principal's message
Thank you all for making our BB a success! I know it can at times add to your already full plates, but it truly helps put additional resources in the hands of our teachers and students. We will be debriefing with our BB committee, and as always welcome your feedback to make it a better process for everyone. If you have any feedback, please email me. Let's remember that we have a dedicated group of parents who are working hard and doing their best to make is successful.
It's been a busy week, and I know I've been off campus a few days. I appreciate the hard work everyone is doing, and for sharing it on twitter! It certainly helped me to stay connected! Next week I am here through Wednesday, and then Lyndsie, Jenny and I are heading to D.C. to the Character.org conference and to receive recognition for our National School of Character Award. I can't wait to celebrate and share all the amazing things you are doing with character education.
A couple other important notes. Dr. Warren will be here on Tuesday to see the amazing work you and our students are doing. His main focus is always how engaged students and teachers are. Also, please make sure you remember our priority goals which are aligned with our Instructional focus. Literacy! All students on grade level and making a year's growth.
Remember, Tuesday we will have a short Edugence training in the library beginning at 3:30. Also, we will be hosting Tepsa's Leaders R Us training for student council. The library and gym will be used all day.
On Wednesday, Dr. Griffin will be here and we will be doing literacy walks. On Thursday, we will have our make-up Vertical PLC. Math in Mrs. TenEyck's room with Shaunda Garrison, and ELA in the library with Mary Van Etten. Please bring progress monitoring tools you are currently using.
It's going to be a great week!
October 16 NEF Jean Day
Monday, Oct. 16, is districtwide jeans day at Northwest ISD thanks to the Northwest ISD Education Foundation! On this day, teachers and staff are allowed to wear jeans and a college shirt to raise awareness of NEF's mission of providing funds to benefit students through scholarships and innovative teaching grants.
NEF Grant Deadline
Teachers can receive up to $2,000 for individual grants and $5,000 for a grade level or department. As the foundation considers how to best serve NISD students and staff through the grant program, the Legacy Grant application has been postponed this year. We hope you will help us by providing feedback in the upcoming employee survey.
If you are interested in applying for a teaching grant, click here. Grants are accepted through 11:59 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27. Principal approval deadline is 11:59 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3.
