Tonya Middling - Principal
Kristin Hillius - Assistant Principal
Dear Parents and Families,
It's hard to believe we have completed the first trimester! This week, Wednesday, December 2nd is the final day of the trimester. Our students and our teachers have been working so hard on the grade level standards in reading, math, and science. Our specialists have also been working hard in music, library, counseling, and social/emotional learning! Report cards will be mailed home on Friday, December 11th.
During the first trimester, we spent the first few weeks getting settled with technology and schedules. Once we got everyone situated, our attendance really improved. We have 262 students who missed only 2 or fewer days this trimester! Way to go!
As we begin the new trimester, we ask that you please reach out to your child's teacher for assistance if your child is not able to attend regularly. We will help to problem solve and create plans for your child, so that they can get their important learning. This is true for your child if they receive special education or English Language or LAP services as well. We recognize the work that all of our families are doing to help support your children, and we continue to thank you for you partnership!
We also want to inform families that we have set aside Wednesday, December 16th between 7:45 a.m. -3:45 p.m. to pick up your child's picture packet from October 30th, as well as student supplies (notebooks, pencils, whiteboard markers, erasers). Retakes may also be done this same day between 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. You should have been able to preview your child's digital photo so you should have an idea if you want re-takes.
Happy December!
It's great to be a Wildcat!
~Mrs. Middling

Family Guides
Our Wildcat families are helping guide their children’s learning, often without knowing where to start. Below are grade level learning guides for each grade level to give our families some ideas about not only what your child is learning at each grade level, but also some ideas of what you can to further support your child’s progress at home.
We hope you find these documents to be helpful!
IMPORTANT: Annual Student Information Update Needed For Every Student
A primary guardian needs to log on to Family Access in Skyward and complete the Annual Student Information update for your student. There are several forms that need to be completed every year, so even if you don't have any changes you must log on and complete the updates. It only takes a few minutes of your time. Please see examples below of what to look for in Skyward.
Make sure to click SUBMIT to complete the updates when you are done!
Head Start and ECEAP
Head Start and ECEAP are federally- and state-funded free preschool programs for qualifying families. The Hewins Early Learning Center enrolls over 200 children in these programs each year. The ELC offers AM and PM classes to families residing in the Franklin Pierce School District. Children must be 3 or 4 years old by August 31st of the school year. For children younger than 3 years old, Early Head Start home visiting may be an option. If you have questions about the program or need assistance with enrollment please contact Melissa McPheeters, Family Support ERSEA Specialist at (253) 298-4675. (It is important to know that COVID has created many circumstances that a family that didn’t usually meet criteria, now does. This includes a sudden change in income level, homelessness, kinship care, etc…)
This is information that will link families directly to the information:
