1. Let It Go!
The title of this article, Top 10 Things Teachers Need to STOP DOING! is a little off-putting. Maybe we could call it: Let It Go-10 Places You Can Find Energy to Put Elsewhere. I think there is some interesting food for thought here, but even if you don't have time to read the whole thing, or don't think it applies to you, please read number 10!
10. Stop underestimating the power of what we do. It is SO easy to mail it in and assume that little of it matters. Don’t buy it. You never know which day will be the day that matters most to a student. Not one of us got into teaching to become wealthy or to have a cushy job (and if I am wrong about that, I assume you are probably not enjoying this post), but we did become educators because we hoped to impact students. We do. Trouble is, the impact is often invisible. It is there. If you are patient and attend to it well, you will eventually see the impact. Go get it!
2. Zaption
Zaption is an online video editor that allows you to add images, text, quizzes, and discussions to existing videos from YouTube, Vimeo and private video libraries. The result is an interactive learning tour that transforms video from a "lean back" experience to an engaging "lean forward" activity. With Zaption’s analytics, instructors get immediate feedback on how students interact with the content and understand key concepts. With the free account, you can copy, edit, and publish existing "tours" (Zaption's term for the content created on their site) as your own and provide students with a link to view and interact with the content. The best way to see what Zaption is like is to experience it from a student perspective. Click below to take the tour that is most interesting to you. You can use the fast-forward button to advance to the next question without watching the entire presentation. All of these Zaptions were copied straight from the Zaption gallery without editing. NO LOGIN or SIGN UP is required on the part of the student. Although you will see a pop-up message asking you to login or sign up, simply type your name and select Continue.

3. Rubric Maker
Create rubrics quickly and easily with this rubric maker from Recipes4Success. The rubric generator is pre-populated with common topics and components. And because no login is required, it's also a great option for students to create their own rubrics. Check out this sample. On the same site you can also create a graphic organizer like this Flowchart.
