William Kelly and Henry Bessemer
William Kelly discovered the Bessemer process. The process was named after Henry Bessemer. The Bessemer process removes impurities from iron ore by oxidation. This was used in the Brooklyn Bridge, which was completed in 1883.
Christopher Sholes
Christopher Sholes invented the typewriter in 1873. Women started entering the professional workforce as typists.
Alexander Graham Bell
Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone and AT&T. Both of these things are still used today.
George Eastman
George Eastman patented the first practical film roll form and Camera (the Kodak).
Thomas Edison
Thomas Edison, the most significant technological pioneer of the day, invented hundreds of things. He invented the telegrapher, phonograph, light bulb, and many others.
