Trader Joe's was here!

On Thursday, May 2, the students at Maple Dale Elementary had a special visitor during lunch! The Trader Joe's mascot, Wart the Frog, was there to introduce some new snacks for the kids to try. The kids had the opportunity to taste Dried Beets and Plantain Chips. Everyone loved the healthy taste testing, and Wart the Frog loved all the high fives! Thanks Trader Joe's!

End-of-year All Pro Dads Breakfast - May 8th

Please join us at the last Maple Dale Elementary All Pro Dads breakfast of the school year on Wednesday May 8th from 8-9am in the school cafeteria. This free monthly breakfast is sponsored by fathers, Chick-fil-A, and the PTO.

The meeting theme is honesty. Honesty is a core value that we should teach our children. This quality will breed trustworthiness that will lead to later success as they grow. If your children want to be hired by future employers or build healthy relationships, they have to be trustworthy.

If attending, please RSVP by Sunday May 5th via the link below so the correct amount of food is ordered.

Reminders- please do not walk your child to their classroom, please park down at the district offices to free parking spaces for staff members, and please be aware that a school delay or closure cancels the breakfast.

We will give teachers an opportunity to "shop" the donated books for their classrooms prior to a scheduled pick up by the Cincinnati Library.

Technology Safety Talk is BACK at Symmes Elementary - May 8, 2019

Are you questioning whether your child should have a phone, Ipod, Ipad, Chromebook or any other electronic device at home? What apps are appropriate and how can we keep our children safe while using electronics?

Keeping our children safe in this digital age is a concern we all face as parents, especially with the easy access to electronics that our children have.

Special Guest: Steve Smith

Stephen J Smith, President, A Wired Family LLC, is a former high school coach and teacher who also has over 25 years of experience in the world of film, video, and interactive media development. For the past 17 years he has worked exclusively in the telecommunications industry. He will provide and overview for parents and others on the consequences of student sexting, cyber-bullying and online privacy while examining the technologies that enable but can also reduce these practices.

This presentation will cover the basics concerning the evolution of the mobile and broadband world as it relates to student communication, including: inappropriate online behavior, bullying and its impact on mental health. He will cover the causes, the technology and how students can help control these trends.
