Holiday Message from the Interim Superintendent
Dear ABCUSD Families,
Happy holidays, ABCUSD families. If you’re like me, you probably feel like the school year just started, yet here we are at the winter break. This school year is moving very quickly. In fact, we are at about the halfway point.
As I’ve visited schools this year, I’m encouraged to see students so happy to be at school. Schools provide much more than education. We now serve free breakfast and lunch, along with tending to students’ social-emotional needs. ABCUSD is about keeping the “main thing the main thing,” which is student achievement. As a district, we are committed to serving every student with the programs and services that will help our students be successful at school.
Of course, none of this happens just at school. Although our teachers, along with school and district staff, are working harder than ever to meet our students’ needs, we know the vital role our families play. I’d like to thank our families for all you do to support your children and our schools. Education is a puzzle, and we cannot do what we do without each piece in place.
Thank you, and I hope you all enjoy the holiday season. We look forward to seeing students back at school on January 9, 2023.
Happy holidays,
Toan Nguyen
Interim Superintendent

Migrant Education Celebrates the Holidays
More than 200 families joined the ABC Migrant Education teachers and staff last Saturday to celebrate the holidays. Families were treated to great music, food, and fun. More than 400 students left with a new toy or book after visiting Santa Claus, of course. Click here to watch a video from this amazing event!
ABC Transportation Collects Toys
The ABC transportation department does more than take students to and from school - they also collect toys for those in need every holiday season! This year, the team of bus drivers, mechanics, and transportation staff collected over 100 toys. The L.A. County Fire Department stopped by the department’s annual holiday lunch to pick them up. Join us in giving the ABC transportation team a big ‘thank you’ for doing so much for our students and the community.
