Ohio Division 1 Swimming State Champion!
Congratulations to junior, Alex Downing, on winning a state championship title in the Girls Division I 100-yard Butterfly competition with a time of 55.04 seconds!
Alex also finished runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.59 seconds.
Alex is an elite athlete and AHS is incredibly proud of her accomplishments. Much respect!
National Merit Finalists

Per the National Merit Scholarship Program, these students are among an elite population of students who took the PSAT and earned not only the title of semi-finalists, but progressed to the finalist status. This means Preston, Claire, and Sean are in the 1% of the nation's test takers.
Spirit Week: March 6th-10th
Next week will be a Spirit Week in support of our Spring Musical, All Shook Up!
Monday: Blue-Out, in honor of those blue suede shoes!
Tuesday: Decades Day, whether it's the 50's or otherwise, let's take it back!
Wednesday: Rock n' Roll Day, we want to see Avon really rock it out!
Thursday: Red Carpet Day, dress to impress in support of our amazing cast!
Friday: Black-Out, in support of the awesome crew that makes our show possible!
All Eagles are encouraged to support your peers and have some fun! See you at the show!
AHS Drama Club Presents, ALL SHOOK UP!
"It's 1955, and into a square little town in a square little state rides a guitar-playing young man who changes everything and everyone he meets. Loosely based on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, this hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy will have you jumpin' out of your blue suede shoes with such classics as "Heartbreak Hotel," "Hound Dog," "Jailhouse Rock," and "Don't Be Cruel."

AHS Scholastic Art Awards
On Thursday, March 2nd, 38 students who were recipients of awards at the High School Scholastic Art Show held at LCCC earlier this year were further recognized in a special assembly highlighting their achievement.
What is the scholastic art show? Student artists from 22 High Schools from Lorain, Huron and Erie counties submitted over 1,600 works of art to be judged and 650 works were selected for the show. Students could receive a ranking of Honorable Mention, a Silver Key, or a Golden Key. Golden Key pieces are further reviewed for national recognition.
Avon High School students submitted 73 works this year and 40 received Honorable Mention awards; 23 works received Silver Key awards; and 10 works received Gold Key awards.
One of Isabella Keller's works, a Gold Key recognized piece was further selected as an American Vision Recipient. American Vision Awards are the top 5 Regional Gold Key best in show.
In addition, writing submissions can be entered to Scholastic. This year we recognized 2 Silver Keys in writing.
All works were recently on display in the Stocker Art Gallery at LCCC and can now be viewed at the entrance of the PAC and in the front hallway display cases.

Congratulations to Junior, Justin Schwab
AHS Hosted OMEA's
Congratulations to all five of Avon High School Orchestras for their Superior ratings at the Northeast Region OMEA State Orchestra Adjudicated event that was held at Avon High at the end of February.
North Coast Rotary Speech Contest Winners
Congratulations to Senior, Dylan Roof and Junior, Camryn Evans who respectively placed 1st and 2nd at the North Coast Rotary speech contest.
Dodgeball Tournament-March 10th
On March 10th, AHS will follow a Midday Assembly Schedule. The senior class officers are hosting a dodgeball final tournament to raise money for prom.
The Assembly will run from 9:52am-10:32am in the Main Gym.
Tickets to attend the dodgeball tournament will be sold in the Commons at lunch for $1.00.
Students who do not wish to purchase a ticket to attend will be permitted to join a relaxing study hall.
Senior Trip to Washington DC
The Class of 2023 is heading to Washington DC March 22nd-25th.
This senior journey to the nation's capital, museums, monuments and historical landmarks, is one all senior classes say was THE BEST of the high school experiences.
There will be a mandatory spring information meeting on Sunday, March 5th at 5:00pm in the AHS Auditorium to review luggage drop off, the itinerary, packing suggestions, medication and much more.
Again this meeting is considered mandatory for all students attending the trip as critical information is shared about the process of participating in the trip.

Pancake Breakfast & Easter Egg Hunt
French Creek Foundation is hosting a Pancake Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 25th at Avon Middle School. Breakfast starts at 9:00am and the Egg Hunt starts at 10:30am. See https://frenchcreekfoundation.com/ for more information.
