Principal's Message
Kia ora koutou katoa,
Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori has been an amazing celebration of learning here at Te Kura O Urumutu. Everyone has been enjoying games, kahoot quizzes, whole school waiata in the quad and much more. Thank you to all staff and parents who have participated in providing our children with a wonderful Te Wiki O Te Reo Māori experience.
Additionally, this week there have been continued preparations for the upcoming RICOH Sports Tournament and our Te Wao Nui O Tāne children are starting to get very excited for this opportunity next week. The sport opportunities continue, this time for our Senior Girls. A group of girls have been training during lunchtimes and will be headed to Ongley Park today for a touch rugby tournament to celebrate New Zealand hosting the upcoming Women’s Rugby World Cup.
This week we hosted our Te Wao Nui O Tāne Camp Meeting. Thank you to all parents that were able to attend. We were really pleased to see so many parents and whānau there. Please remember that if you have any questions to make contact with your child’s classroom teacher and they will be happy to support you.
We are looking forward to our upcoming Vibe to be held on Thursday at 11am in Week 10 which is right before the Te Wao Nui O Tāne Gala being held at lunchtime. Please watch for communications from the Te Wao Nui O Tāne team for further information.
Have a fantastic rest of the week and a lovely weekend.
Ngā manaakitanga,
Matt

Technology and Design in Ruma Tahi
Rūma Tahi have been working on a design process for the up-coming Lunchtime Gala. One of our groups had the opportunity to visit Awatapu College and put their ideas into practice by designing and making a decal.
Many thanks to Nicola Reid for supporting and tutoring our tamariki in this venture. The students had a fabulous time designing and creating their own personal decal. They are looking forward to next week, when they get to go again. Oh, and they also had hot chocolate made for them! What a fabulous experience and great learning opportunity!
CAR PARKING
As you may have noticed, the staff carpark is now open and in use. A reminder to please use the footpath, and not walk through the office carpark or hall carpark going to and coming from school. Vans and cars are entering and exiting at the end of the day. Can whanau please use the other gates around our kura to leave school, as we want everyone to be safe. We encourage parents to park on the street and use the walkways coming into school. Please remember to abide by the road markings on Botanical road and park only in designated spaces (not on the yellow lines). This is for the safety of our children and community members.
