welcome to 1st grade
2013-2014 school year
To parents, families, and friends of first-grade students,
Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year at ISP! Allow me to introduce myself, I am Alissa Ryder, the very proud and privileged classroom teacher. I am eager to share this year with you all!
I have Bachelor’s Degrees in both Elementary Education and Spanish from Montana State University. I also studied in Minnesota, Costa Rica, and Spain. I taught first-grade in Minnesota and Bolivia and preschool in Nebraska. While this is my fifth year of teaching it is my third year as a first-grade teacher. I am new to ISP and Panama City. My husband and I look forward to making Panama our home.
I am happy to be working this year alongside the kind and helpful Miss Sonia, my instructional aid. She will act as an additional teacher in our classroom. Furthermore, I have worked at length with the three other first-grade teachers: Miss Jordan, Miss Ward, and Miss Mari Carmen, and will continue to do so throughout the year to ensure each student under our care has a balanced and thorough education. While some activities and procedures may vary amongst the classrooms the content and goals are common. We are all committed to the safety, care, and education of our students. Your child is the focus of everything we do here at ISP.
The beginning of the year is always an overwhelming and exciting time. I make myself available to you as a resource. Education at its best is a balance between all stakeholders so I ask for your support and guidance. Feel free to reach me through email at firstname.lastname@example.org. I will be sending newsletters electronically unless you request a paper copy and those can be found here at the smore website. I will email the links as they are available in order to keep you informed about the material we are discussing in the classroom. I will also email regularly about specific student progress as a way to approach challenges that may arise and celebrate the inevitable successes.
