Principal's Newsletter
From the Desk of Ms. Clark
May 31, 2018
Dear Parents,
As many are preparing for graduation around the world, we are surrounded by messages of inspiration and wisdom. We celebrate the many talents of all and encourage our graduates to continue to study hard and choose friends wisely. But in the end, what really counts is who you are and the kind of person you choose to become.
We try to instill this concept in each of our students every day of the school year. In these final weeks during community prayer, we pray each day that the virtues we have practiced all year will continue to grow in our hearts. We encourage our students to continue to practice the virtues of faith, honesty, respect, character, charity, mercy, self-control, hope, and justice during the summer, next school year, and all the years of their lives.
Finally, I pray that our efforts of this past year will bear much fruit. As we bring all of our plans to joyful conclusion, we thank our Lord for all of our accomplishments and for our entire SKD family!
God’s blessings,
Ms. Clark
Thank You
Our children had a great time walking the track last week despite some mild humidity and heat. Students with the most laps were awarded honorary medals for their feat! We want to especially thank our extended SKD Family for all of their donation dollars to this special fundraiser for our school! At this point, we have raised over $31,000 for our school. THANK YOU! WE COULD NOT DO IT WITHOUT YOU!
Terra Nova Reports
As a school, we receive evaluation summaries which provide us with information to evaluate the overall effectiveness of our educational program. With our results, we can evaluate individual and group achievement compared to the nation, determine overall performance, and identify areas of strengths and need.
If you have any questions concerning the interpretation of your child’s report, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or myself.
IMPORTANT Immunization Requirements for 2018-2019 School Year
Documentation required for the start of school. Please send in when completed.
As a reminder, the state of Pennsylvania has changed their immunization requirements. Beginning August, 2017, the provisional enrollment period is 5 days. A parent must have all immunizations of their child completed within the first 5 days of school. If they are not completed within those 5 days, the student must be excluded from school.
Medication Pick-Up
Please remember that your child has medication in the Health Office for pick up on or before June 15, 2018. Medication permission forms will be available at this time so that you and your child’s physician can review the need for it for school year 18-19 and obtain the required signatures prior to the start of school in September. Expired medications will be discarded as well as any medications left after June 15, 2018.
Please call if you have any questions- 215-355-9564. Thank you for your cooperation.
REMEMBER, ALL MEDS MUST BE PICKED UP BY AN ADULT, NO MEDICATION WILL BE SENT HOME WITH A STUDENT.
Late Arrivals
All students (Kindergarten to 8th grade) are expected to arrive at school on time. A student’s entire day can be thrown off by simply missing the morning routine in his/her classroom. Additionally, by arriving on time you send the message that you respect others and appreciate the value of their time and attention.
Annual School Picnic
Summer Uniforms
Students are expected to be in complete uniform each day. Please carefully review our policies for sneakers, nail polish, haircuts, and jewelry. Infractions will be given to students who are not in compliance with our uniform policy.
Registration Reminder
This is a friendly reminder to our families who have not re-registered for the 2018-2019 school year. Many of our classes now have waiting lists and / or seats are filling up with new registrations. We do not want you to lose your place. Knowing your intentions helps us to plan and budget for the next school year.
Class Trips
Notices have been sent to remind you to please ensure that your tuition account is current. Per school policy, tuition must be up to date in order for students to participate in upcoming class trips and other year-end activities.

Financial Aid
Applications for students who will be enrolled in K-12 during the 2018-2019 school year will be available for parents. Applications for Archdiocesan schools, parish schools, and diocesan high schools can be accessed at www.blocs.org or by going directly to https://online.factsmgt.com/aid
Please know that no parent who sincerely desires a Catholic education for their child at Saint Katharine Drexel School will be denied registration because of true financial hardships. Each parish will address this concern on a case by case basis for their parishioners. Any additional financial aid scholarship, in addition to the parishes’ subsidy, will be predetermined, and awarded by the parish, prior to the start of the academic year. Families who believe they are eligible and in need of this aid are asked to contact their local parish office and request a financial aid packet which will include the request for all pertinent financial information.
