Teacher Professional Development
I'm sure that some of you are wondering what we do on professional development days. Sometimes we work on curriculum like Readers' or Writers' Workshop. Sometimes we work together and learn from one another as a grade level or a content area. And sometimes we get together to get inspired. That's what we did today. Well known educator, writer, and presenter Dave Burgess (https://twitter.com/burgessdave) joined us for a full day of teaching like a pirate. Check out our twitter feed (@mertonint) during the day to see and learn about our exceptional day.
Trivia Night is Friday, March 4th
Our annual Trivia Night is set for Friday, March 4th as Ironwood Golf Course. All funds raised are going toward the purchase of new playground equipment for the Intermediate School. Here is a link to sign up to attend. We hope that you can attend and appreciate your continued support of Merton Schools!
Are your children on Snapchat?
Although many social media sites require members to be 13 years old to join, some of our children may still have signed up. One of these sites is Snapchat, a site that allows posts to be visible for 1-10 seconds to recipients. A blog I read by AJ Juliani provides important information about Snapchat that I wanted to share with you. Here is the link.
The Merton MATHCOUNTS team took 8th place in the regional MATHCOUNTS competition in Waukesha recently. Last year they took 10th place so they're on the way up! 8th grader Carson A. finished 16th out of 100 competitors. We are proud of you!
