Welcome Back!!!! I hope you enjoyed your Spring Break with your student. We asked all students to Sharpen their Saw over the break which is simply taking time to do take care of self with healthy food, exercise, and outside time. I hope you all had time to Sharpen your Saw and are able to make this a family habit.
This week is full of learning and fun for our young leaders. On Monday, we will begin with the end in mind with a focus on academics. Our students and teachers will dig deep into our MOCK STAAR data and discovering what we need to do help every student achieve their personal academic goals. We will also have special visitors from the Dallas Fire Department and Dallas Police to share careers and safety protocol for our young leaders.
With all the excitement of Spring Break and fun let's not forget we are still battling the fight against COVID. We sent out a call out reminding parents of ways to help us keep the campus as safe as possible. We are asking that if your child has come in close contact with anyone that is showing symptoms of COVID or has been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID that you keep your child at home. You will simply need to call us at 972-749-4000 and let us know your child is a close contact and we will provide next steps. Also, if your child shows any symptoms of COVID which can include a sore throat, headaches, vomiting, fever, body aches, congestions, runny nose, or diarrhea they should stay home. If your child has these symptoms, please call us and let us know. We advise testing for COVID or speaking with a health professional. Also, if your child is positive, please call us and let us know so we can follow protocol regarding attendance and any close contacts. If you help us by following these guidelines it will help us greatly as we do all we can to keep our campus as safe as possible.
We truly thank you and appreciate you as a parent of Weiss. Please know that if you have any concerns, worries or just questions, we are here to help you. Call us at 972-749-4000. Thank you again!!! Have a wonderful week.
Sincerely,
Principal Merritt
No Tardies and Perfect Attendance
Perfect attendance is a goal for all of our students. We understand emergencies happen and students are sometimes ill. If your child is not experiencing an illness with fever or COVID related symptoms, we ask that they come to school.
If your student has 0 tardy slips & 0 absences, they will be eligible for FREE DRESS FRIDAY at the end of the grading cycle!!!!!
Thanks,
Attendance Committee
Arrival & Dismissal Updates for Drop Off & Pick Up
Students are not to start arriving before 7:15am because safety is our top priority and students must be monitored/supervised.
When parents drop their students off before staff arrives, it becomes a safety concern.
Also, parents must ensure that their student(s) enter the building in the designated grade-level entry ways. This is to support an orderly transition and mitigate the spread of COVID.
Friday, March 25th - Virtual Career Day/ Deadline to Accept Academy and Hulcy

Allergy Season Help!!!!!
Wash pollen off: Bathe kids and change clothes after being outside to remove pollens from their hair, faces and clothing.
WASH FACE IMMEDIATELY AFTER OUTSIDE PLAY TO HELP FIGHT ALLERGIES
Pollens are airborne and microscopic, so you can’t always see them. Wash hair at night to avoid sleeping in pollen.
- Parents look out for letter regarding immunizations. If your child is missing any immunizations, they will be sent home a letter this week.
What does the new mask recommendation mean for your children?
- In DISD mask are no longer required but they are recommended. The CDC recommends everyone, regardless of vaccination status should wear a mask in public indoor places. Masks are still recommended because they are an extra step that can help prevent the spread of COVID. COVID is spread from person to person through coughing, sneezing, or talking in close contact. You can still spread COVID even if you are not sick. Your child can still wear a mask if you would like them to.
COVID Testing at Ellis Field House
- Ellis Davis Field House, 9191 S. Polk St., offers free COVID tests. Appointments are preferred at Ellis Davis, but walk-ups are also accepted. Make an appointment for Ellis Davis at testing.nomihealth.com/signup/texas.
