Parents should arrive by 2:30 p.m. and check-in to the front office for a visitor's pass to be seated before students arrive in the large gym. All parents/families must enter through Leland St. gate, so office staff can allow you entry to the building. Parents will not be allowed to enter on the Mary St. side, as these doors remain locked during the school day for student and staff safety. Please park in the visitor marked spots in the parking lot on Leland St. Parking is limited, so please plan ahead. Limited street parking on Congress, Brackenridge, and Mary St. may also be available. We hope to see you there as we celebrate women, spring, and student athletes!

This week, the Office of School Leadership, Executive Directors, and Associate Superintendents visited our campus for our spring Learning Walk! During the walk, we received praise for our focus on student-centered activities, high expectations, and learning for all students. The Associate Superintendent said this was “the best learning walk he has seen all year out of all middle schools in our school district”! We were able to showcase our teachers' ability to provide student choice and meaningful learning experiences for every student, no matter what program they belong to! The feedback from our learning walk is a testament to our hard work and dedication for all students.

A huge shout out to the following teachers for welcoming staff from the district to see all the wonderful teaching strategies we are using!

Falcon Fun Cart

We continue to find creative solutions for getting all students to stay in class and get to class on time. Our Falcon Fun cart is currently fully stocked and rolling around our hallways several times a week! You never know where the cart will be, so if students want something from the cart, they need to be in class before the bell rings and ready to learn! Check out the photos below to see our new fancy Falcon Fun Cart in action!

Art Billboard Designed by Lively Student

A design event each year in Austin ISD is held to generate artwork for art advocacy. The theme for the 2023 Exhibit is "Art is Essential!" Students design a billboard for each grade level group, elementary, middle school, and high school. They also design t-shirt imagery, and one entry from all four design contests is selected to grace our invitations. I am excited to share that Lively student, Daniel G, is the winning artist for the middle school division! Daniel’s billboard will be located on 6412 Burnet Rd 300 ft N/O White Horse Trail WS.

Advisory/SEL

In SEL this week students will be learning about leaders, César Chávez and Dolores Huerta in celebration of their accomplishments and contributions. Students will also get a chance to finish and present their “I Heart Austin” projects, their Women’s History Month pennants, and their Pride Week reflection on how they can contribute to making Lively a welcoming place.

As we do every week, we will spend time enjoying the spring weather outside. We will also be getting ready for our PINK OUT pep rally on Thursday, March 30, to celebrate our spring sports, academic accomplishments, and the end of women’s history month.

Falcon Flex

Shai Zimmerman is our weekly Falcon Flex. He has been an amazing addition to our falcon family! Mr. Zimmerman is our 7th grade language arts teacher! His ability to connect with our students is second to none, and his lessons are always thought provoking and engaging! Thank you for all that you do for our kiddos, Mr. Z!!
